Chamber Strings and Dance Concert

The School of Music at Colorado Christian University invites the community to our Chamber Strings and Dance Concert on Tuesday, December 4, at the CCU Music Center. The nine-member CCU Chamber String Ensemble, under the direction of Affiliate Faculty member Richard Niezen, will present a varied program of dramatic and inspirational music. Ranging from the majestic Baroque stylings of Henry Purcell, the elegant Classical nuances of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the Romantic pastoralism of Gustav Holst, to pieces of contemporary fiddle and spiritual music, this concert will have a wide audience appeal. The exuberance of American Reels and Divertimentos, and the hushed incantations of hymn settings offer a demonstration of the wide variety of string literature to be cherished.

The students of the Dance and Stage Movement class will perform a program of solo and group choreography projects in a wide range of dance styles, including tap, jazz, musical theater, and lyrical. In addition, the class will perform three pieces as an ensemble, with choreography by Erin Buterbaugh. Audiences will recognize popular music from stage and screen, as well as pieces by artists such as Michael Jackson, Florence + the Machine, and Regina Spektor. Experienced dancers will appear alongside debut performers in this program fusing energy and art.

Please join us for this FREE concert to celebrate the season!
