"What the teacher is, is more important than what he teaches."
Karl Menninger, American Psychiatrist (1893-1990)
Focusing on effective teaching strategies and communication skills, the education minor trains students to impact lives through learning. Students take classes in educational theory, curriculum and instruction, and in other specialized areas including reading and adolescent development. The education minor is a great choice for students who are planning to work with young people in their chosen career, or even for students who just want to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of others.
Through the emphasis placed on the integration of faith and learning in their academic major and education minor classes, students are given opportunity to reflect upon and practice their role as Christians in their area of discipline and in their role in society. Regardless of your major, the education minor will help you develop the knowledge and skills you need to enhance your professional and interpersonal skill set. You’ll be equipped to lead, instruct, mentor, coach, and interact with middle or high school-aged young people. Students have the option to complete 18 credits for the minor or 12 credits for an education specialization.
