"Writing, I think, is not apart from living. Writing is a kind of double living. The writer experiences everything twice. Once in reality and once in that mirror which waits always before or behind."
Catherine Drinker Bowen, American Biographer (1897-1973)
The English degree at Colorado Christian University provides students with refined writing skills, effective communication abilities, and critical thinking skills that employers value. Through critical study and analysis of a diverse selection of literary works, English majors are exposed to thoughts, ideas, and challenges that prepare them for further study in graduate school. Students are also encouraged to submit their writing for publication to Paragon (a creative student publication) and in other venues such as poetry and essay writing contests.
The English major at CCU focuses on increasing student knowledge about traditions, history, society, culture, and the world while learning the value of communicating truth and the love of Jesus Christ with efficiency and grace. English students will leave Colorado Christian University with a better understanding of the human experience, respecting diversity, embracing creative expression, and ready to continue their ongoing journey of self discovery. Each of these disciplines is central to the English major at CCU and each can be an invaluable skill in life, no matter which career path you choose.
