FAITH AND LEARNING
Education at CCU is focused on developing the whole person: intellectually, professionally, and spiritually. We believe your academic experience is about more than simply sitting in a classroom. It's about broadening your perspectives, expanding your worldview, exploring new ideas, gaining a biblical foundation of knowledge, investigating your beliefs in a supportive environment, and learning how to think critically. This process takes place in the context of a Christ-centered community that offers you freedom and accountability; opportunities to both lead and serve; and opportunities to ask questions and discover answers. The goal behind this unique view on education is to help you adopt thoughtful Christian perspectives that will build a foundation for the rest of your life.
At CCU, faith impacts the educational experience both inside and outside the classroom, and our strong commitment to that faith leads us to believe in true education, not indoctrination. Education here means more than listening to lectures, taking exams, writing papers, and reading textbooks. While all of these are crucial to developing the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare for and excel in your professional career, we believe you should consider how your faith will (and currently does) impact the way you live and work. That's why faith is integrated into the curriculum for every course we teach at CCU, whether business, education, global studies, or music. Through this educational process, you experience something beyond the learning itself; you undergo a transformation of soul and spirit, which prepares you to make a significant difference in your family, workplace, church, community, and world.
CCU professors are more than just teachers, and you are more than just a number. During your time here, professors get to know you by name. They are not only concerned about your academic success, but interested in your spiritual growth as well. Our professors come from a variety of different perspectives within the evangelical faith and all have faced the challenge of living out their faith in the secular world. While they are teaching and training you in academic disciplines and professional competencies, they are also helping you learn how to be followers of Christ by encouraging and challenging you to put your belief in Jesus into living practice.
