Outdoor Leadership

"Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home"
-John Muir, Scottish-born American naturalist, author, and early advocate of preservation of wilderness in the United States (1838-1914)

The purpose of the Outdoor Leadership minor is to develop students who will facilitate outdoor experiences to grow people in Christ-likeness, for the sake of others, to the glory of God. The minor is not about recreation; it is about re-creation. It is not about survival skills; it is about thrival skills.

There isn't a more beautiful place in the world than Colorado; CCU's Outdoor Leadership minor takes C.L.A.S.S. outside to pursue these goals:

Character formation
Leadership development
Authentic Community
Skill acquisition
Spiritual transformation

Outdoor Leadership In the Christian University

Terrain and setting matter to God. He has always used outdoor settings to test people, expose unbelief, birth a vision, develop leaders, and reveal Himself. It was on mountains that God gave the law to Moses, Jesus gave the Great Commission, and the Apostle John received his vision of the New Jerusalem. The biblical and theological basis for outdoor leadership will motivate and mobilize you to powerfully share your outdoor passions with others. Choose from a wide variety of outdoor skills courses that integrate faith while using the experiential learning process that occurs outdoors.

You pay the same tuition rate whether you take 12 or 18 credit hours. So even if you are not interested in earning the entire 18-credit minor, why not round out your education by taking a few outdoor leadership courses and learn in God's great outdoors? Come to Colorado, and elevate your life!
