"Every decision you make – every decision is not a decision about what to do. It's a decision about WHO YOU ARE..."

Neale Donald Walsch, Author of the series Conversations with God (b. 1943)

Choosing the Right Major for You

Choosing the "right" college major can be a challenging, confusing, and exciting experience. It's often hard to decide right out of high school what you want to study for the next four years, let alone what career you want to pursue after college graduation. It's not uncommon for college students to change their major three or four times before they graduate. In fact, twenty-five percent of college freshmen enter college without declaring a major at all.

At Colorado Christian University, declaring a major is more than just deciding "what you want to be when you grow up". Choosing a major field of study is about finding your purpose and place within the world. It's about fulfilling God's calling for your life. It's about preparing yourself for the journey ahead.

Why Choose a Christian Liberal Arts Education?

"We envision graduates who think critically and creatively, lead with high ethical and professional standards, embody the character and compassion of Jesus Christ, and who thereby are prepared to impact the world."

Colorado Christian University's Vision Statement reflects our desire to help shape complete individuals. That's why your educational experience will be all about shaping and developing a "whole" person academically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

At CCU, you will be immersed in a Liberal Arts-based education with a Christian worldview that will expose you to the world like you've never seen it before.

All students are required to take 50 to 60 credit hours of general education courses that serve to lay a foundation for their education and future interaction with the world. Students will be introduced to the humanities, rhetoric, composition, literature, history, math, Biblical studies, and the behavioral and physical sciences, giving them an extensive knowledge base within a Christian framework. CCU students learn these disciplines through application, experience, introspection, theory, and service.

Be prepared to be challenged, changed, encouraged, stretched, and strengthened. You will leave Colorado Christian University prepared to enter the "real world', prepared to make a difference, and prepared to live a life worthy of a higher calling.

Life Directions Center

If you're unsure of your next step, Colorado Christian University offers every student the unique experience of being advised by a Life Directions Center (LDC) Advisor for their entire CCU experience. One of the roles the LDC Advisor will play in your life is being a mentor, assisting you through the process of making a well-informed, Christ-centered decision about your major and future career.

LDC Advisors help students explore their own individual abilities, gifts, interests, skills, values, personality, and purpose – characteristics that play a crucial role in determining academic direction. We believe each student has a unique, God-given purpose and it takes time and patience to develop a vision for that purpose.
