Home-Schooled Students

College of Undergraduate Studies

CCU’s College of Undergraduate Studies is looking for students who demonstrate a strong academic career and exemplify a vital Christian pursuit, personal integrity, and a desire for Christ-centered community. CCU’s general requirements state that first-time freshmen (students who have taken less than 15 college credits after graduating from high school) are expected to have at least a 2.8 GPA and a 20 ACT composite score or an SAT score of at least 1380. Students who do not meet these criteria are still considered for admission on a case-by-case basis, and factors such as essay content, recommendation content, and extracurricular activity all contribute to an individual admission decision.

We encourage you to apply for admission and visit our campus so you can see what the CCU experience is all about. We also think it’s important to get to know you during the admission process so we can help you determine if CCU is the best school for you. We pair you with an individual admissions counselor who finds out what you need and value so you know before you enroll if CCU is a good fit for you.

Note: If you have completed 15 or more college credits after graduating from high school, please complete the Admission Steps for Transfer Students instead.

Admission Steps

  1. Complete your application for admission and submit the non-refundable application fee. You can start the process by applying online now. Make sure you outline all activities you have been involved in on your application for admission. This can include church activities, volunteer experience, employment, sports, and other activities that demonstrate leadership.
  2. Submit your home-school transcripts and transcripts from each college or university you have attended. You may use the Institutional Transcript Request Form (PDF) for this purpose. Please make sure each class is listed with a grade and have your home-school instructor print it out and sign it before sending it to CCU.
  3. Submit your official ACT and/or SAT test scores. The ACT Web site provides extensive information and services for the ACT Assessment, including online registration, test preparation, and a score report ordering system.
  4. Request that a  Spiritual Recommendation form (PDF) be completed by a pastor, youth pastor, or youth worker who knows you well enough to testify to your relationship with Christ. CCU does not accept recommendations from family members.

An admission decision will be made when all application materials are received. Please contact your enrollment counselor if you have any questions.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

It is important to apply for financial aid early by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after January 1 as possible. You should also start searching for outside scholarships as early as possible. For more information on investing in your education at CCU, searching for scholarships, and applying for financial aid, visit the financial aid Web site.
