Home-Schooled Students
College of Undergraduate Studies
CCU recognizes the academic excellence and achievement that a home-school education can offer. To help guide you through our application process, we have outlined below exactly what we need from you. We encourage you to apply for admission and to visit our campus so you can see what the CCU experience is all about.
We also think it’s important to get to know you during the admission process so we can help you determine if CCU is the best school for you. That’s why we require all applicants to complete a personal interview with an enrollment counselor to help with the selection process. The interview gives you the opportunity to ask all of your questions and to get a better idea of how your unique qualities will fit in at CCU.
Admission Steps
- Complete your application for admission and submit the non-refundable application fee. You can start the process by applying online now. Make sure you outline all activities you have been involved in on your application for admission. This can include church activities, volunteer experience, employment, sports, and other activities that demonstrate leadership.
- Schedule an admission interview with your enrollment counselor. This may take place either before or after you complete your application.
- Sumit your home-school transcript. Please make sure each class is listed with a grade and have your home school instructor print it out and sign it before sending it to CCU. Also request official transcripts from any other schools you have attended, if applicable.
- Submit your official ACT and/or SAT test scores. Applicants who have completed fewer than 30 semester hours of college coursework must submit official ACT or SAT scores. The ACT Web site provides extensive information and services for the ACT Assessment, including online registration, test preparation, and a score report ordering system.
- Request two recommendations. The Academic Recommendation form (PDF) must be completed by your home school instructor or someone who knows your academic abilities. Note: CCU does not accept recommendations from family members. If your home school instructor is a parent or family member please obtain an academic recommendation from someone else who can comment on your academic abilities. The Spiritual Recommendation form (PDF) must be completed by a pastor, youth pastor, or youth worker. Recommendations should be mailed to the Admission Office.
An admission decision will be made when all application materials are received. Please contact the enrollment counselor for your area if you have questions or would like to talk to someone about transferring to CCU.
Financial Aid and Scholarships
It is important to apply for financial aid early by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after January 1 as possible. You should also start searching for outside scholarships as early as possible.
