International Students
College of Undergraduate Studies
CCU wants to make the benefits of a Christ-centered education available to students from different countries around the world. That’s why CCU encourages international students to apply for admission. In order to help you through this process, we have outlined admission procedures and requirements specific to international applicants. We look forward to getting to know you and serving you throughout the admission process!
Admission Steps
- Complete your application for admission online and submit the non-refundable application fee. CCU does not accept non-U.S. credit cards at this time. If you do not have a credit card issued by a U.S. bank, enter the code ISAPP into the payment options field after you submit your application and the application fee will be waived.
- Request official transcripts from your high school and/or any colleges you have attended. If you are currently enrolled, please request a final transcript be mailed upon graduation or completion of coursework. Transcripts from schools outside the United States must be evaluated by World Education Services.
- Submit your official ACT and/or SAT test scores (if possible). Students who do not submit ACT scores and students who present any ACT subject score less than 20 will be required to complete academic placement testing on campus. International transfer applicants who have completed less than 30 semester hours of college course work must submit official ACT or SAT scores. The ACT Web site provides extensive information and services for the ACT Assessment, including online registration, test preparation, and a score report ordering system.
- Request two recommendations. The Academic Recommendation form (PDF) must be completed by a school counselor, teacher, or professor. The Spiritual Recommendation form (PDF) must be completed by a pastor, youth pastor, or youth worker. If you are not currently enrolled in school, please request a recommendation from someone who can comment on your academic background as well as your potential to succeed at CCU. CCU does not accept recommendations from family members. Recommendations should be mailed to the Admission Office.
- Submit your Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score if your primary language is not English.
- Schedule an admission interview with your enrollment counselor.
- Demonstrate the ability to pay for one year of expenses before admission. You must complete the Verification of Funds form (PDF) for this purpose. You will be required to submit a bank statement showing adequate funds on deposit or provide a statement from an American citizen guaranteeing payment of expenses.
- The student is responsible for paying the SEVIS I-901 fee on the U.S. Immigration Web site. The government requires this fee (and a copy of the receipt) in order for the student to legally cross the border into the U.S. for study purposes.
CCU will make an admission decision when all application materials are received.
International Student Requirements
As an international student, you must meet regular entrance requirements and follow standard application procedures. In addition, you will need to demonstrate the ability to understand college-level English. All non-native English speaking undergraduate students must achieve a minimum score of 550 or better on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Prior to coming to CCU, you need to demonstrate that you have the ability to pay tuition for at least one year of resident study at CCU. Ability to meet these expenses may be demonstrated by showing adequate funds on deposit in a U.S. bank or by providing a statement from an American citizen guaranteeing payment of expenses. Please refer to CCU's Verification of Funds form (PDF) for detailed information.
If you are admitted on a student visa you must be enrolled for at least twelve semester hours of credit. In order to work off campus, international students must meet with the International Student Coordinator at CCU to obtain permission from the United States Immigration authorities. International students may be eligible for institutional financial aid and awards, but are not eligible for federal financial aid.
