International Students

College of Undergraduate Studies

CCU wants to make the benefits of a Christ-centered education available to students from different countries around the world. That’s why CCU encourages international students to apply for admission. In order to help you through this process, we have outlined admission procedures and requirements specific to international applicants. We look forward to getting to know you and serving you throughout the admission process!

Admission Steps

  1. Complete your application for admission online and submit the non-refundable application fee. CCU does not accept non-U.S. credit cards at this time. If you do not have a credit card issued by a U.S. bank, enter the code ISAPP into the payment options field after you submit your application and the application fee will be waived.
  2. Request official transcripts from your high school and/or any colleges you have attended. Contact one of the Evaluators of Foreign Education for evaluation of your transcripts. If you are currently enrolled, please request that a final transcript be mailed upon graduation or completion of coursework.
  3. Submit your official ACT and/or SAT test scores (if possible). Students who do not submit ACT scores and students who present any ACT subject score lower than 20 will be required to complete academic placement testing on campus. International transfer applicants who have completed less than 30 semester hours of college course work must submit official ACT or SAT scores. The ACT Web site provides extensive information and services for the ACT Assessment, including online registration, test preparation, and a score report ordering system.
  4. Request that a Spiritual Recommendation form (PDF) be completed by a pastor, youth pastor, or youth worker. Recommendations should be mailed to the Admissions Office.
  5. Submit your Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score if your primary language is not English.

CCU will make an admission decision when all application materials are received. All materials must be received by May 1st for enrollment in the upcoming fall semester, and by October 1st for enrollment in the upcoming spring semester.

Steps for Obtaining your F-1 Visa

  1. Once you are accepted for admission to CCU, you will need to complete the I-20 Request form and submit it to the International Student Services Coordinator (ISSC) in the Life Directions Center.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to pay for one year of expenses before admission. You must complete the Verification of Funds form (PDF) for this purpose. You will be required to submit a bank statement showing adequate funds on deposit or provide a statement from an American citizen guaranteeing payment of expenses. Complete the Verification of Funds form and submit to the ISSC in the Life Directions Center.
  3. When all of your paperwork has been submitted to the ISSC, and if you meet all of the financial requirements, your I-20 will be issued and sent to you.
  4. You will then be responsible for paying the SEVIS I-901 fee on the U.S. Immigration Web site. The government requires this fee (and a copy of the receipt) in order for the student to legally cross the border into the U.S. for study purposes.
  5. Set up an appointment with the US Embassy in your country for your F-1 VISA interview.

International Student Requirements

As an international student, you must meet regular entrance requirements and follow standard application procedures. In addition, you will need to demonstrate the ability to understand college-level English. All non-native English speaking undergraduate students must achieve a minimum score of 550 or better on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

If you are admitted on a student visa you must be enrolled for at least twelve semester hours of credit. In order to work off campus, international students must meet with the International Student Coordinator at CCU to obtain permission from the United States Immigration authorities. International students may be eligible for institutional financial aid and awards, but are not eligible for federal financial aid.
