Aimee DavisonOne of Colorado Christian’s most recognizable and accomplished athletes, Aimee Davison entered CCU as a freshman in the fall of 1994, adding to a young, strong team that would catapult Cougar volleyball from a local curiosity to a national contender.
Over the next four years, Davison went on to set the CCU single game and single season record in blocks. She also led the conference in blocks per game, placed in the top five for blocks nationally, and earned athletic all-conference and academic all-conference honors in three out of her four years as a player. Aimee is currently perched atop the CCU record books in an astounding eight statistical categories.
Following graduation Aimee re-joined Cougar Athletics in a full time capacity as Assistant Volleyball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director. Her administrative and athletic experience culminated in 2004 when—ten short years after joining the program as a freshman—Davison became the Head Coach for women’s volleyball.
On the court and in the office, Aimee is as devoted as she is talented. She has poured her life into the program and is considered one of the most important and influential figures in CCU Athletics.
Gus GillGus Gill came to Colorado Christian University in 1989, serving first as a Professor in Biblical Studies, and then went on to become the Director of Campus Ministries and the University Chaplain. During his time at CCU, Gus volunteered to be an assistant coach for the women’s soccer team and provided discipleship and Bible study opportunities for volleyball, men’s soccer, and basketball. In 2002, Gus left CCU to devote full attention to his duties as Senior Pastor at Hillside Community Church in Golden.
Throughout his 13 years with the University, Gus and his family developed several meaningful relationships with Cougar athletes, many of which remain close friends to this day.
Jim McCormickJim McCormick has served as the Vice President for Student Life at CCU since 1995. A native of Phoenix, Arizona Jim McCormick came to Colorado to attend college. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Colorado and his master’s degree from the University of Colorado. Following graduation, Jim answered God’s call to pursue a career in student life and experienced enormous success in that field at three institutions prior to his service at CCU.
As the Vice President for Student Life, Jim has made immeasurable and often unseen contributions to both the Athletics Department and to the University as a whole. The Athletics Department was moved under Jim in 2001 and within one year he had successfully launched the Hall of Fame Banquet and also initiated the current Christ-centered direction that now defines Cougar athletics.
The personification of humble leadership, Jim combines vision with hard work, and has been voted Administrator of the Year six times in his twelve years at CCU. Seeing the Cougars through some difficult times, he has been one of the department’s most trusted and loyal advocates. Despite his many accomplishments and a combined twenty-four years of service, his greatest gift of all may be his humility and his unique ability to deflect credit to those around him.
