December 12, 2007—Cougar Athletics is proud to announce that cross country standouts, Cooper Pasque and Laura Leathers have capped off a stellar 2007-08 outing with an RMAC All-Academic nod.
A junior from Norman, Oklahoma, Pasque earned a spot on the All-RMAC Academic Second-Team. Cooper was the top runner on this year’s men’s cross country team and was the squads first place finisher in each event this past fall, including the first overall runner in the CSU-Pueblo Invitational on September 15.
While excelling athletically, Pasque also maintained an incredible 4.0 GPA as a history major.
On the women’s side of the action Leathers earned a place on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll. A dual sport athlete, she has found success in both cross country and women’s soccer. Laura placed a team second on multiple occasions, including a team second and 80th overall finish at the competitive RMAC Championships on October 25. As a graduate studies student, Leathers has earned a 3.87 in Social Science
To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student athletes must have a GPA of 3.20 or better, be a starter or key reserve and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of men’s and women’s cross country selected First and Second Team Academic All-RMAC. These SID’s took into account the student-athletes work in the classroom, as well as on the athletic field.
October 16, 2007—The CCU men’s and women’s Cross Country team grabbed a second place finish this past Friday at the 5k Cougar Cowbell held right here at Colorado Christian.
Leading the way for the ladies was Bethany Hogan, who placed third overall (20:52) in the 15 runner field just behind Vernonica Albo (20:01) and Jessica Jenkins (20:39) of Metro State.
Cooper Pasque ranked eighth overall in the men’s bracket, logging a 17:02 on the 5k and was the first non Colorado State University runner to cross the finish line.
The Cougars now gear up for the RMAC Shootout this upcoming October 20.
September 16, 2007—First year head coach, Tracy Jex, has the cross country program off and running in the right direction, as the men’s team placed first at the Colorado Running Company Invitational, and Bethany Hogan came in first place at the CSU-Pueblo Invitational.
Hogan, a sophomore from Dripping Springs, Texas, ran extremely well for the ladies, topping a competitive field and crossing the finish line in first place at 21:41, a personal and CCU best for the young season in the 5K event.
Not far behind Hogan was junior Katie Keller, the Mesa State transfer finished fourth overall with an impressive 27:29.
Leading the charge for the men’s team was junior standout Cooper Pasque. Pasque notched his first win since joining the Cougars, crossing the finish line at 28:30 in the rigorous 8K.
There was a familiar face for CCU fans in second place, as freshman Spencer Stehr breezed through the gates to a large ovation at 31:21 and marking the first 1-2 finish for the men in recent memory.
With the breakthrough performance of the men's team, and the ongoing success of Hogan, Keller and the rest of the women’s team, the Cougars have plenty of momentum heading into the Rocky Mountain Shootout on September 29.
September 2, 2007—CCU sophomore Bethany Hogan notched a 25th place finish and led the Cougars to fifth overall at the prestigious Wyoming Invitational this past Friday.

Hogan came through the gates at the 17:21 mark and was followed closely by Laura Leathers who placed second for the Cougars with a time of 18:31.
