Pasque Earns RMAC All-Academic Second Team

Cooper PasqueDecember 22, 2008—The CCU Cross Country Department is proud to announce that Cooper Pasque has been named to the RMAC All-Academic Second Team.

Pasque was CCU’s number one runner all season, and currently holds a 4.0 GPA in History and Biology.

Recently, Cooper finished an impressive 46th at the NCCAA National Championships, posting a 28:43 in the 8k, while being named an 2008-09 NCCAA Scholar Athlete.

To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.20 or better, be a starter or key reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. Their GPA is what they had earned prior to cross country season beginning. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of men’s cross country selected First and Second Team Academic All-RMAC.

Hogan Named CCU’s First-Ever NCCAA All-American for Cross Country

Bethany HoganNovember 20, 2008—Bethany Hogan of the CCU women’s Cross Country Team, put an exclamation point on another outstanding season when she was the first-ever Cougar in her sport to be named NCCAA All-American.

Hogan has been a consistent top finisher for the Cougars for the past two years and recently finished 14th overall among an elite group of runners at the NCCAA National Championships.

Bethany competed from the front of the pack for the majority of the race and logged a season-best 19:11 in the 5k extravaganza, en-route to her history making recognition.

Congratulations to Bethany Hogan for her outstanding and unprecedented accomplishments this year!

Pasque, Hogan Impress at NCCAA’s

November 18, 2008—Cooper Pasque and Bethany Hogan capped off a strong season with an impressive showing at the NCCAA National Championships this past weekend.

Pasque braved some windy running conditions to post a 46th place finish with a time of 28:43 in the 8K. In addition to his top-50 finish, Cooper was also named an NCCAA Scholar Athlete for the 2008-09 season.

Not to be outdone, Hogan logged a 14th place finish, running from near the front for the entire race and finishing with a season best time of 19:11 over the 5K event.

Congratulations to Cooper Pasque and Bethany Hogan for their hard work and tremendous success this fall!

Pasque, Hogan Pace Cougars at RMAC Championships

Cougar Cross CountryOctober 28, 2008—Cooper Pasque and Bethany Hogan each finished first place for CCU this past weekend at the RMAC Championships in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Pasque recorded a personal best 27:56 in the 8k event; finishing 50th overall and leading the Cougars to an 11th place overall finish.

Cougar Cross CountryHogan recorded a time of 23:50 in the women’s 6k, good enough for a respectable 32nd place finish in the group of 100.

The ladies claimed a 12th place overall finish, 22 points in front of CSU-Pueblo.

The Cougars are back at it on November 15 at the NCCAA National Championships in Cedarville, Ohio.

Hogan Leads Cougars to Ninth Place at Rocky Mountain Shootout

Bethany HoganOctober 6, 2008—Bethany Hogan paced a strong Cougar effort this past weekend, finishing 23rd overall and leading the team to a ninth place overall finish.

Hogan logged a time of 24:06 in the 5.8k extravaganza held on the campus of the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Nicole Wachendorf finished a team-second and 46th place overall with a time of 25:49.

The men and women are back in action on 10/25 at the RMAC Championships.

Pasque, Hogan Top Cougar Finishers at Rust Buster

Cooper PasqueSeptember 8, 2008—Cooper Pasque of the men’s cross country team and Bethany Hogan of the women’s team, each topped the list of Cougar runners this past weekend at the UCCS  Rust Buster in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Pasque knocked out the 6k with an impressive seventh place overall finish, crossing the line at 20:42 and leading the men’s team to a fifth place ranking.

Bethany HoganCaleb Mathewson logged a second place finish for the Cougars, and 17th overall with a time of 21:55

Hogan looked strong on the women’s side of the action, powering through the 4k with a time of 16:44, good enough for a 13th place overall finish.

Jennifer Coates came in second for CCU and 38th overall with a time of respectable time of 19:12

Each team is back in action on September 13 at the CSU Cross Country Classic.

Walker, Pasque named CCU’s RMAC Honor Student-Athlete’s for 2007-08

Cooper PasqueJune 5, 2008—Cougar Athletics is proud to announce that Mandy Walker of the volleyball team and Cooper Pasque of the men’s cross country team, have been selected as CCU’s RMAC Honor Student-Athletes for 2007-08.

Walker, a 6’0” right side hitter from Orlando, Florida maintained a 3.95 grade point average in business administration during her tenure as a Cougar, and recently continued her education through a study abroad program at Oxford University.

Pasque, a junior from Norman, Oklahoma, boasts a cumulative GPA of 4.0 in history, and was CCU’s top runner this past season, posting a first place finish at the CSU-Pueblo invitational. 

Administrators from each of the 14 RMAC institutions choose a male and female athlete as their honoree for RMAC Honor Student-Athlete. To be eligible for the award, individuals must be an athlete in one of the conference sponsored championship sports; carry at least a 3.20 GPA and be either a starter or key reserve on their respective team. 

Pasque, Leathers Earn RMAC All-Academic Nod

Cooper PasqueDecember 12, 2007—Cougar Athletics is proud to announce that cross country standouts, Cooper Pasque and Laura Leathers have capped off a stellar 2007-08 outing with an RMAC All-Academic nod.

A junior from Norman, Oklahoma, Pasque earned a spot on the All-RMAC Academic Second-Team. Cooper was the top runner on this year’s men’s cross country team and was the squads first place finisher in each event this past fall, including the first overall runner in the CSU-Pueblo Invitational on September 15.

While excelling athletically, Pasque also maintained an incredible 4.0 GPA as a history major.

Laura LeathersOn the women’s side of the action Leathers earned a place on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll. A dual sport athlete, she has found success in both cross country and women’s soccer. Laura placed a team second on multiple occasions, including a team second and 80th overall finish at the competitive RMAC Championships on October 25. As a graduate studies student, Leathers has earned a 3.87 in Social Science

To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.20 or better, be a starter or key reserve and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution. RMAC Sports Information Directors at schools that sponsor the sport of men’s and women’s cross country selected First and Second Team Academic All-RMAC. These SID’s took into account the student-athletes work in the classroom, as well as on the athletic field.
