May 18, 2010—The CCU women’s golf team recently announced the addition of three top prospects, Alyssa Osterback, Ashley Olson, Janean Jubic, and Stephanie Wilson, who will join the Cougars for the 2010-2011 season.
Osterback, a transfer from Spokane Community College in Washington, brings a stroke average of 84 and 8/10 top ten 2010 finishes to Colorado Christian. She will enter CCU with an AA in Business and a 3.6 overall GPA.
“Alyssa comes from Spokane CC where her team just won the 2010 Southwestern Oregon Invitational. She brings a competitive spirit and a solid scoring average. Alyssa will come into the RMAC and compete right away.”
Joining Osterback is Ashley Olsen, a transfer with a 3.3 GPA from Modesto Community College. This
past season, the Turlock, CA native placed eleventh out 30 golfers competing in the Big 8 Conference and qualified for the Northern California Championships.
Regarding the addition of Olsen, Long stated that, “Ashley is a competitor. She is athletic, determined, and loves the game. She will be one of many who will probably come early and stay late during our practice sessions and I know she will make an immediate impact in the RMAC.”
The third transfer in the 2010 class is Janean Jubic. Formerly a basketball player at RMAC rival CU-Colorado Springs, Jubic was an All-State golfer in high school, averaging scores in the low 80s. She will join CCU’s graduate program as she completes her eligibility at Colorado Christian.
“Janean will bring leadership and D2 athletic experience to our team this season. She will know what it takes to compete at this level and also have a huge impact on our team with her leadership abilities. I am looking forward to see what Janean will do in just one season of golf in the RMAC.”
Rounding out the list of prospects for 2010 is Stephanie Wilson out of Glenwood Springs, CO.
“Stephanie is our lone freshman recruit this year. She has tremendous potential as she has shaved around 20 strokes off of her game in the past two years. She has a great work ethic and I know she will continue to improve even as she starts her college career. I can’t wait to be a part of what I anticipate will be tremendous development for Stephanie in four years at CCU.”
