The Ryan & Jamie Smith Spring 2011 Essay Contest Question ($5,000)

Do you think it is possible to end extreme poverty in the next 30 years?  If so how?

Scholarship Information
The Ryan & Jamie Smith Essay Contest is available to students who are at least 18 years old and enrolled in an accredited educational institution. You must submit an essay of less than 1000 words answering the question above.  The award will be in the amount of $5,000.00 to the winning student on behalf of The Ryan and Jamie Smith Foundation and The Wooden Schoolhouse.

  • Scholarship Ends @ Midnight on June 15th, 2011.
  • Winner will be announced on, or about, August 1st, 2011.
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Available for US and International Students (additional rules apply for International Students).
  • International Students may apply as long as the university they are attending is a recognized, or accredited, university in the country they are studying in.
  • Available for under-graduate, graduate, or continuing education students.

Background Information for Scholarship (please read)
Ryan & Jamie Smith, founders of The Smith Companies, started their careers by investing in real estate.  Still in their 20′s, they continue to expand their company with the philosophy of “You serve to earn it; you give to keep it.” 

This scholarship is offered by the Ryan & Jamie Smith Foundation in conjunction with The Wooden School House, which seeks to provide scholarships for underprivileged kids in 3rd world countries.
