Each year, a list of national Colleges of Distinction is created, with schools being ranked on four criteria: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant communities and successful outcomes. The rankings provide a way for students and parents to see which colleges in the United States stand out for quality teaching and success of the graduates. Colorado Christian University is proud and thrilled to have been named to this prestigious list of Colleges of Distinction 2012-13.
Derry Ebert, CCU’s Dean of Enrollment said of being named a College of Distinction: “The inclusion of CCU as a College of Distinction speaks to the labor of the faculty and staff as they strive to make every student’s experience successful…but it also speaks to our core of students who are committed to engaging with the world around them while developing relationally, academically and spiritually.”
Criteria for Selection
There is a very specific process involved in naming the Colleges of Distinction each year. First, each college is nominated by a high school guidance counselor and is thoroughly evaluated based on qualitative and quantitative data. The Committee for Colleges of Distinction then interviews the college’s staff, faculty and administrators . Data is evaluated including graduation rates, classroom size and other important information that speaks to the quality of the college. This information, along with important statistics, is all taken into consideration to come up with a list of finalists.
