Colorado Christian University’s Winter Welcome is right around the corner! The staff and faculty of CCU are thrilled you have chosen this wonderful Christian school to begin or continue your college career, and we have been praying and planning for your arrival for quite some time. This year’s winter welcome is the weekend of January 11-13, and during that time you will meet CCU student leaders and learn about various opportunities to get involved in on campus. We will be having an all-campus Communion Service Sunday night. Frisbee Golf will be a lot of fun on CCU’s course, and in Belmar, you can catch a movie, eat out at any one of the many restaurants near campus, and talk to other students who are also new to the school and make some new friends.
On the more practical side, this weekend will be a great time to settle into your new residence, meet faculty and staff, get your student ID card and parking permit, buy textbooks and make sure all your paperwork is in order for the start of an exciting, challenging first semester. Check out the CCU Winter Welcome complete schedule and note these highlights:
Friday, January 11: Check in for students and parents at the Student Union from 9-11 a.m. If you are living on campus, you can get your room key from a Residence Life staff member, and you can meet your Resident Assistant (RA), who will help you move into your new room. You can get your ID anytime between 8-5, and security will be open so you can pick up a parking permit. The bookstore will be open from 9-6 so you’ll have plenty of time to get all the textbooks you need for your courses, and be sure to stock up on CCU apparel, school supplies and other items you’ll need to start the semester off right!
A campus tour will start promptly at 10:00 a.m., and you will learn where all the buildings are located which will help you find the classrooms where your courses will be held. Commuter Events will meet at 11:00 a.m. in the Student Union–commuters can enjoy a free latte or coffee, meet other commuters and learn ways to get involved in campus activities.
A Welcome Lunch for students and parents will be held in the Cafe from 12-1:15 (student lunches will be deducted from your meal plan while family and guests will eat at no charge). The New Student Dinner will be at 5:30 in the Student Union, courtesy of the University Programming Council (UPC), which means you eat free! Everyone will then head to the CCU Event Center for Cougars basketball, featuring men’s and women’s games against Metro, one of CCU’s biggest rivals! The games will begin at 6 and 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, January 12: A service project for students will be sponsored by the Life Directions Center from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Just meet in the Student Union at 10 and lunch and transportation will be provided.
Sunday, January 13: All-campus Communion at 8:00 p.m. in the Event Center
The faculty, staff and students at CCU are very excited about your upcoming arrival. The CCU Winter Welcome promises to be a weekend filled with fun, helpful activities and events to help you get settled in and get you geared up for the start of your CCU education!
