Take a break from studying and enjoy an evening of music at Colorado Christian University when the Switchfoot tour makes a stop here on October 31. The band will perform in an intimate setting after a screening of their new documentary, “Fading West.” The documentary focuses on surfing, one of the band’s favorite hobbies, and features a lot of behind-the-scenes information about the band and their struggles as artists and in life.
Who is Switchfoot?
Switchfoot has been around since 1996. The band was formed by Jon Foreman and his brother, Tim. They soon signed with an independent Christian music label, Re:Think. The band’s albums were released on Sparrow, a bigger label, after Sparrow acquired Re:Think.
The band had a mainstream break-through in 2002, when several of their songs were featured on the soundtrack for the movie “A Walk to Remember,” starring Mandy Moore. After that, the band signed to a major label, Columbia, and was able to reach a wider audience.
Switchfoot released three records on Columbia before deciding to start their own record label, lowercase people records. So far, the band has released two albums on their own label, with the soundtrack to “Fading West” scheduled to be released in January of next year.
Fading West Tour
The “Fading West” tour kicked off in the beginning of September and is scheduled to go until the end of November. The band will premiere its new movie during the tour and will also release a part of its upcoming album at the start of the tour. The EP will be released on September 17 and will be available for sale at each concert location as well as on the band’s website.
The EP consists of the first few songs from the upcoming full album. Once the full album is released in January, those who purchased the EP will receive a digital copy of the rest of the songs, automatically.
