Wow what an interesting perspective on wearing the Armor of God – hadn’t heard it explained in this way before! I think it’s very important to be able to speak up versus saying nothing, especially when talking about our faith. It takes a lot of courage to be able to stand up for what you believe in and even more so in the presence of peer pressure. I know I’ve felt pressured to do a lot of things that I’m not comfortable with and at times it can be really difficult to say “no I’m not comfortable with that situation” or “I don’t believe that.” The thing that I’ve found helpful is having a wingman.
Living on a tiny island, there’s only so many people that we are able to hang out with and even harder to find good Christian friends. Luckily one of my friends and I always try to make sure the other person is there when going out with a group. This not only keeps us accountable, but gives us the courage to stand firm in our faith when it’s being tested; two is always better than one! 1 Corinthians 16:13 (NIV) says it well: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” Situations can get tough but as long as we’re there for each other and have the courage to stand up for what we believe, we will get through with God on our side. Great thought provoking post!
