Many people have the notion that business and godliness do not mesh. Sooner or later, the godly person will become consumed by the secular world of business. However, I do not believe that that is entirely true. Yes, there are incidents where this happens. Christians are tempted and fall into temptation, but there is something greater in all of that. Unbelievers do not have the grace of God and they do not have forgiveness of their sins. In 1 John 1:9 (New American Standard Version), the Disciple John said, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Christians can stumble. They stumble regularly because they are not in heaven yet. There is not one perfect Christian. Only Jesus Christ is perfect and the spotless lamb of God taking away the sins of the world. True Christians are in Christ. They are forgiven because they are hidden by the blood of the Lamb. The advantage Christians have are their salvation, their identity in Christ, their forgiveness, mercy, and grace that the Lord gives them. Just because one is a Christian does not make them invincible. They still sin and struggle because they are still flesh and blood. The true Christian can either fall and get back up or they will not take part in the folly. A true Christian does not give up. They are walking with the Lord every moment. If they really have a heart for God they will ask for his forgiveness, repent, and do the right thing.
Although, Christian may be tempted and tried in their organizations, it is the Lord that will straighten them out and direct their lives. If one Christian stole a lot of things, sooner or later the Lord will catch up to the person. He will convict them that they are doing the wrong thing and that person will repent. Repenting requires a lot of discipline. One might repent, then have the sin occur again, the the person repent, and the sin occur again. If their heart is not broken over that sin, than it is questionable whether their heart is in the right place with God.
In all areas of life, a Christian must live out their faith. If they do a wrong, apologize and make it right. People are watching Christians whether in business or everyday life. There are unbelievers that are watching Christians to see their lives. If their lives are not fruitful or contagious, it is hard to say that that Christian is doing God’s will. Christians are to make unbelievers thirsty and hungry for Jesus. This is by showing them through their actions.
