NUR (Nursing)

MAT 095 (1)
This is a continuing education offering. Introduces the healthcare professional to concepts and techniques of dosage calculations and medication administration by a variety of routes. Learners apply basic math concepts to complex conversion of dosages between and among various systems of weights and volumes. Learners will apply critical thinking skills to the calculation and administration of medications. Concepts are introduced from a Christian perspective and serve as foundation to subsequent nursing courses.

NUR 196 LPN to ASN Bridge Course (2)
The licensed practical nurse (LPN) transitions into professional nursing roles. Professional practice and professional behaviors are emphasized in the context of nursing's scope of practice and the role of the generalist registered nurse. Concepts are introduced from a Christian perspective and serve as foundation to subsequent nursing courses. A theory lab component is included in this course.

NUR 210 Nursing Care: Adults and Older Adults II (6)
This course focuses on professional nursing roles in providing complex care for adults across the life span. Previous nursing knowledge and skills are used in applying critical thinking and clinical decision making with application to the nursing process. Professional practice and professional behaviors are explored from a Christian perspective. A theory lab and clinical component are included in this course.

NUR 220 Nursing Care: Childbearing and Childrearing Families Complex Alterations (3)
This course focuses on professional nursing roles in providing care to high-risk obstetrical and newborn clients. Complex care of children with special needs is explored. Previous knowledge and skills are foundation to critical thinking and clinical decision making. Professional practice and professional behaviors are explored from a Christian perspective. A theory lab and clinical component are included in this course.

NUR 230 Nursing Care: Clients Across the Life Span with Alterations in Mental Health (4)
This course focuses on professional nursing's care and treatment of mental health conditions and disorders. Psychopathology and psychosocial integrity provides the foundation for promotion and maintenance of mental health across the life span in a variety of settings. Professional practice and professional behaviors are explored from a Christian worldview. A theory lab and clinical component are included in this course.

NUR 240 Nursing Care: Clients Across the Life Span with Complex Alterations in Health/Illness (4)
This course integrates previous knowledge and skills with application to critical thinking and clinical decision making in critical care environments. The nursing student focuses on professional nursing roles in providing emergent/critical care to clients across the life span. Professional practice and professional behaviors are explored from a Christian perspective. A theory lab and clinical component are included in this course.

NUR 260 Nursing Professional Practice I: Leadership, Issues, and Trends (2)
This course facilitates transition from student to the associate degree graduate nurse role. Professional leadership roles, differentiated practice, delegation, quality care/risk management health care delivery systems, and legal implications are explored from a Christian perspective. Special emphasis is placed on preparing the nursing graduate for successful transition into practice. A theory lab and clinical component are included in this course.

NUR 280 Capstone: ASN Role Synthesis (2)
This clinical course completes transition from Associate of Science in Nursing degree to professional nursing generalist. The nursing student assumes professional nursing-entry level roles - provider and manager of care, and member of the discipline - in selected health care settings. Professional practice and professional behaviors are demonstrated from a Christian perspective and applied to life-long learning practices.
