SPA 111 Elementary Spanish I (3)
Introduction to modern
Spanish in a conversational approach. Fundamental vocabulary,
basics of grammar, and simple readings.
SPA 112 Elementary Spanish II (3)
Continuation of
SPA 111. Prerequisite: SPA 111 or instructor's approval.
SPA 201 Intermediate Spanish I (3)
Continued development
of students' Spanish language skills and knowledge of the
diverse cultures found in the Spanish-speaking world. Prerequisites:
SPA 111, 112 or the equivalent of one year of college Spanish,
three years of high school Spanish, or the instructor's approval.
SPA 202 Intermediate Spanish II (3)
Continued development
of students' Spanish language skills and knowledge of the
diverse cultures found in the Spanish-speaking world. Prerequisites:
201 or the equivalent of one and one-half years of college
Spanish, four years of high school Spanish, or the
instructors' approval.
SPA 265 Spanish Conversation and Composition I (3)
Intensive practice in oral and written Spanish language skills.
Emphasis on development of the essay. Includes advanced grammar
review. Prerequisites: SPA 201 and 202 or the instructor's
approval.
SPA 266 Spanish Conversation and Composition II

Continuation of SPA 265. Prerequisites: SPA 265 or
the instructor's approval.
SPA 350 Internship (1-12)
Supervised experience in
a professional setting. Pass/Fail; may be repeated for credit. Junior Standing.
SPA 382 Culture and Civilization of Spain (3)
Conducted in Spanish,
this course explores the cultural diversity of Spain from prehistoric
times to the present. Oral presentation and term paper required. Prerequisite:
SPA 266 or instructor permission.
SPA 390 Directed Study (1-3)
Guided independent investigation
of a topic selected in consultation with the major or minor
advisor. See Academic Policies for guidelines. Dean's approval required. Graded; may
be repeated for credit.
SPA 450 Internship (1-12)
Supervised experience in
