THE 201 Introduction to Theology (3)
Basic issues, themes, and categories of Christian theology. Prerequisites: BIB 111, 114, and PHL 202. [For Adult Studies students this course is listed as THE 201A and there are no prerequisites.]

THE 215 Philosophy and Sociology of Ministry (3)
Academic and practical approaches to ministry developed from theological reflection, biblical evidence, and social research.

THE 301 History of Christian Spirituality (3)
Prayer and the devotional life; role of the local church in the life of the Christian; study of selected classic writings in devotional literature. Prerequisite: ENG 102.

THE 302 Evangelical Theology (3)
An examination of selected topics and thinkers within contemporary evangelical theology. Prerequisite: PHL 202.

THE 303 Christianity in America (3)
History of the Christian experience in America from the Colonial era to the present. Examination of the differences in theology and polity among the major denominations. Cross-listed as HIS 303. Prerequisite: THE 201. [For Adult Studies students this course is listed as THE 303A and there are no prerequisites.]

THE 305 Exploring Calvin's Theology as a Foundation for a Christian World View (3)
A study of the Divine/human relationship as presented in Calvin's theology. Designed to develop exegetical, theological and devotional disciplines in the process of exploring the mysteries of "Christ in you".

THE 306 Communication for Ministry (3)
Principles of Christian education and the development and delivery of the expository sermon. Prerequisite: COM 110.

THE 310 Historical Theology I (3)
The development of Christian theology from the patristic period to the Renaissance. Prerequisite: THE 201.

THE 311 Historical Theology II (3)
The development of Christian theology from the Reformation to Modernity. Prerequisite: THE 201.

THE 350 Internship (1-12)
Supervised experience in a professional setting. Pass/Fail; may be repeated for credit.

THE 390 Directed Study (1-3)
Guided independent investigation of a topic selected in consultation with the major or minor advisor. See Academic Policies for guidelines. Graded; may be repeated for credit.

THE 403 Contemporary Approaches to Theology (3)
Exploration of contemporary theologies. Prerequisite: THE 201.

THE 412 Practical Theology (3)
Exploration of leading thinkers, ideas and texts in practical theology, with special attention to pastoral and lay responses to contemporary concerns.

THE 416 Senior Thesis Research (3)
Formulation and approval of topic and bibliography for senior thesis; completion of initial research and outline. Prerequisite: Senior status.

THE 420 Women in Ministry (3)
Roles of women in church history, the first and second waves of the North American Feminist Movements, and an analysis of the conservative, moderate, and egalitarian views of women in ministry. Prerequisite: THE 201.

THE 421 Senior Thesis (3)
Completion and defense of Senior Thesis. Prerequisite: THE 416.

THE 450 Internship (1-12)
