GI Bill Benefits

GI Bill BenefitsCCU is approved for Veterans Affairs Educational Benefits provided by the Montgomery GI Bill. All master's degree, bachelor's degree, and certificate programs are approved for payment of GI Bill education benefits. Applicants for admission to CCU who are applying for—or are already approved for—GI Bill eligibility, may seek assistance in using their benefits by contacting a VA Certifying Official at CCU's Service Central Office at 303-963-3230 or VASupport@ccu.edu.

How To Use Your GI Bill Benefits At CCU:

  • Prior to using your GI Bill benefits, Veterans Affairs requires the completion of their application for education benefits. This application is referred to as VA FORM 22-1990. The paper-based application form is available at http://www.va.gov/vaforms, or it can be completed online at http://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/main.asp (referred to as the VONAPP process). The online application is highly encouraged as it is processed quickly by Veterans Affairs. The result of a successful application is the receipt of a Certificate of Eligibility, which outlines your benefits. Veterans Affairs will typically take 8-10 weeks to process a new application. However classes can be submitted for benefits during this processing period.
    • Students who are applying for benefits while on active duty must have VA FORM 22-1990 signed by their Education Officer.
    • Students who are applying for benefits and are not on active duty must also submit their DD-214 (Member 4 copy).
    • Students who are in the Reserves will be issued a Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) FORM DD-2384.
    • Students who are eligible for benefits as a dependent of a disabled veteran (Chapter 35) must submit application FORM 22-5490 (PDF).
    • Students who are eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation benefits (Chapter 31) will need to contact their VA Case Manager to obtain authorization FORM 28-1905. The toll free phone number to begin the application process for Vocational Rehabilitation benefits is 1-800-827-1000.
  • If you have previously used your GI Bill benefits at another school, a notice must be sent to Veterans Affairs to report the "Change of Program" and to establish CCU as your parent school. Print the form from the applicable link below and fax the completed form to 303-963-3231, Attn: VA Support.
  • If you have already completed the applicable VA forms above to apply for benefits or to change schools, the next step is to submit your classes to initiate your claim for benefits. The process is referred to as “enrollment certification.”  At CCU, the VA’s Web-based application is used to quickly initiate your claim (which takes the place of VA FORM 22-1999).
    • To request that some or all of your classes be submitted for benefits, simply e-mail the necessary information to VASupport@ccu.edu using an Enrollment Template (DOC) that covers the information necessary to certify your enrollment.
    • After Veterans Affairs completes their processing of your claim, you will receive an Award Letter that documents the benefits that will be paid on a monthly basis.
