About Online Education

Many students find online education to be a rewarding experience that offers both flexibility and the chance to become part of a global learning community. CCU has degree programs that can be completed exclusively online, or students can choose to combine online classes with classroom-based learning to experience both formats.

Online courses are delivered through special software developed by eCollege, a leading provider of distance education programs for colleges and universities. Typically, online courses are offered in seven-week blocks. Students communicate with each other and professors through threaded discussions within the courses as well as through Instant Messenger and e-mail. A common misconception about online learning is that it is completely independent. However, CCU has designed courses to be very interactive and structured, so students know exactly what is expected of them.

“The College of Adult and Graduate Studies program at CCU has been a remarkable experience offering me the ability to complete my undergrad degree while working full time, raising a family, and even traveling overseas. While enrolled in an online course, I had the opportunity to lead a team of people from my church on a two-week mission trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand.  Because of the convenience of online classes, I was able to complete the required papers (which were due while I was gone) prior to leaving on the trip. When I was overseas, I was able to participate in the threaded discussions from an Internet cafe right in the heart of Thailand. What a terrific opportunity for me to apply what I was learning to what I was experiencing first-hand in Thailand. The flexibility of online classes is truly wonderful, even participating from a world away.”
