Your Degree Plan

Colorado Christian University requires that students complete a total of 128 credit hours to graduate with a bachelor’s degree. Both transfer credit and credit earned at CCU apply toward this number. Your degree plan will show how these credits can be applied.

Every student is given a degree plan to serve as a guide throughout their studies at CCU. Any qualifying courses from other colleges, universities, military training, and testing will be transcribed to the correct portion of the degree plan enabling you to clearly identify remaining requirements that must be fulfilled prior to graduation. The degree plan is in Microsoft Excel format and you can receive a copy via e-mail.

For the major coursework (courses specific to your degree and upper level courses) there is a suggested order due to the fact that each course builds on the previous course. However, these are only suggestions. Students may accelerate their academic career by taking two or more of the major coursework simultaneously. There is no required order for the general education courses or elective courses. There are exceptions to this when a major coursework course has a prerequisite. In this situation, you must successfully complete the foundation course (the prerequisite) before beginning the primary course.

Each degree plan will have a minimum of three sections. The top portion of the degree plan is the general education section which constitutes 45 credits. These include:

  • Six credits of English composition
  • Three credits of oral communications
  • Nine credits of humanities
  • Nine credits of behavioral or social sciences
  • Three credits of history
  • Six Bible credits
  • Three credits in mathematics
  • Three credits in science
  • Three credits of computer science

The center portion of the degree plan will contain the major coursework—the courses that are specific to the degree you have chosen. These courses are required and you must complete the exact course, or an approved equivalent. To see if a course from another school will fulfill the requirement, contact a student services advisor.

The bottom portion of the degree plan will display the number of electives you will need to complete in order to fulfill graduation requirements. The numbers of credits are based on the degree program you have chosen.

Two other sections may or may not appear on the degree plan. If you have selected the management of information systems program or the business administration program, you will need to complete required business foundation electives. These courses could include accounting, finance, and economics among others.

If a you choose to add a minor to your degree program, the required courses will be listed in a separate section of the degree plan.

As you complete courses, you will be able to update your own electronic copy of the degree plan. If you would like an officially updated copy of your degree plan, contact your advisor.
