Alternative Licensing Program Admission Process
Step 1: Meet Colorado Department of Education Entrance Requirements
Before you apply to CCU's College of Adult and Graduate Studies for admission to our Alternative Licensing Program, you must complete the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) admission process for the Alternative Licensing Program. You must have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university to qualify.
Alternative Licensing Program
-
Apply to the Colorado Department of Education to be admitted to the Alternative Licensing program. Visit the CDE website and complete the online application for the Statement of Eligibility (SOE). Officials at CDE will determine in what areas a candidate is qualified to teach.
-
Take and pass the state approved content exam in the area(s) designated and approved by the Colorado Department of Education on their application review, or have 24 semester hours in the content area in which they plan to teach. In the elementary content area candidates MUST take and pass the Colorado state approved elementary content exam (PRAXIS II or PLACE).

The CDE will issue you a Statement of Eligibility (SOE). This certificate is good for three years and allows a district to hire a person in the areas specified.
