  • Scholarship Eligibility

Can I use the scholarship at any time?

In order to take advantage of this scholarship opportunity you must start classes in your degree program in CCU's College of Adult and Graduate Studies by March 28, 2014. You may start classes at any entry date offered for your program prior to this deadline.

How long is the scholarship offer available?
You must start classes in your degree program by March 28, 2014 and use all scholarship funds by our spring 2016 semester. In addition, you must be registered for at least one class per year in order to retain your scholarship.
Can I give the scholarship to someone else?
    No. The scholarship is non-transferable.
Do I need a high school diploma or bachelor's degree to be eligible for the scholarship?
You must have either a high school diploma or the equivalent to be eligible for admission to an associate or bachelor's degree program or an undergraduate-level certificate or educator licensing program. You must have a bachelor's degree to be eligible for admission to a master's degree program or graduate-level certificate program.
If I want to earn a master's degree, do I need a bachelor's degree to be eligible for the scholarship?
Yes, a bachelor's degree is required for entrance into all of CCU's master's degree programs and graduate-level educator licensing programs.
Can I qualify for a scholarship if I am an international student?
International students can qualify for the scholarship as long as they meet all admission requirements for international students.
Can I use the scholarship to take courses in CCU’s College of Undergraduate Studies?
No, the scholarship is only applicable to degree programs completed through CCU’s College of Adult and Graduate Studies.
I entered more than one scholarship contest for CCU. Can I use multiple scholarships to pay for my tuition?
No, students are not able to take advantage of more than one scholarship offered through a CCU scholarship contest.
I am eligible for CCU’s reduced military tuition. Am I also eligible for this Scholarship Contest?
No, students who are already receiving CCU’s reduced military tuition are not eligible to receive a separate scholarship through a CCU Scholarship Contest.
  • Scholarship Payments

Can I use the scholarship to pay for any class at CCU?
The scholarships may be applied toward degree programs in CCU's College of Adult and Graduate Studies. Students must apply to CCU and be enrolled as degree-seeking students. The scholarships may not be applied toward the fee to audit courses.
Will the scholarship cover the cost of my degree program?
The $5,000 grand prize scholarship could cover a substantial portion of the tuition cost to complete your degree program depending on how many credits from previous college courses you transfer to CCU. The degree plan you receive from your Enrollment Counselor will help determine this. A $1,000 scholarship will cover approximately 15%-25% of the tuition for each of your first four courses at CCU. Visit the College of Adult and Graduate Studies Financial Aid and Tuition website for more information about tuition, scholarships, and flexible options for making your degree program affordable.
Can I use the entire scholarship amount to cover one class?
The scholarship is designed to be distributed evenly among multiple courses. If you won a $5,000 scholarship, you will receive a maximum of $500 toward each course (not to exceed the course tuition) for up to 10 courses. If you won a $1,000 scholarship, you will receive a maximum of $250 toward each course for up to four courses. Note: If a course is 6 credits, instead of a typical 3-credit course, the scholarship applied to that course will be doubled. For example, if you won a $1,000 scholarship, you can apply $500 toward a 6 credit course, then $250 to two additional 3-credit courses.
What if I have less than 10 courses to complete my degree?
The scholarship is limited to $500 per course for the $5,000 scholarship winner and $250 per course for $1,000 recipients, regardless of how many courses you need to take.
Will I lose the scholarship if I don’t pass a course?
The scholarship amount is deducted from your student account at the beginning of the semester. If you do not pass a class, you will not have to pay back the scholarship, nor will you be refunded the tuition you paid for that course.
Is the scholarship given to me in a check or is it a credit on my student account?
The scholarship will show up as a credit on your bill for each course you are enrolled in during that semester.
Can I use the scholarship to purchase books, or pay other fees?
No, it is a tuition scholarship and cannot be used to cover other expenses.
What if I am eligible to receive employer reimbursement for school?
The amount of your scholarship will automatically be deducted from your student account. Your company can then reimburse the remainder of your tuition costs.
Can I still qualify for financial aid in addition to my scholarship?
Yes, there is no difference in the way you will apply and qualify for financial aid.
  • Taking Classes at CCU

Do I have to be considered a full-time student to earn my degree?

No, you may take as many or as few courses as you would like during any semester. However, in order to receive financial aid, you must take a minimum of six credit hours per semester toward your undergraduate degree, or three credit hours per semester toward your graduate degree. Certificate students are not eligible for financial aid.

Can I take some courses online and others in a classroom?
If your academic program is available online, you may choose to take some courses online and others in a classroom. In fact, many of our students take a combination of "in seat" courses and online courses depending on their schedules and style of learning. Of course, if a program is not available online, you will need to attend regular classes at one of CCU’s Centers, partner locations, or satellite sites.
Can I take time off between courses?
Yes, the programs are designed to fit into the busy lives of adult learners. However, you must be registered for at least one class per year in order to retain your scholarship. In addition, the scholarship funds must be used by the spring 2016 semester. Any unused portion will be forfeited after that date.
Is there an age limit to take classes at CCU?
Generally, students entering the undergraduate program in CCU’s College of Adult and Graduate Studies have already graduated from high school and have at least 2-3 years of life or work experience. While there is no specified age requirement to take classes in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies, entrants in the scholarship contest must be at least 19 years old on January 7, 2014 to qualify for a scholarship.
Can I transfer credits to CCU?
Yes, CCU has flexible transfer credit policies that allow adult undergraduate students to use their previous coursework. See our Transfer Students website for specific guidelines and details. Graduate students should refer to the admission requirements page for their specific program for details on transfer credit policies.
