Only if you have been selected for verification do you need to complete Verification Worksheets. If you have not been selected for verification, you do not need to complete a Verification Worksheet.
If you have been selected for verification, an e-mail will be sent to you requesting the proper Verification Worksheet(s) and supporting documentation for submission. If you have any questions regarding which Verification Worksheet to complete, contact your Service Specialist (303-963-3230).
Students who have been selected for general Verification must attach the 2012 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcripts by you and your parent(s) (if you are a dependent student), or you and your spouse (if you are married). You are not required to submit Federal Tax Return Transcripts if you completed your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. If you re-submit your 2013-2014 FAFSA and use the Data Retrieval Tool, you are not required to submit your 2012 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcripts. Please note: the IRS Data Retrieval option is available late February 2013, and 3 weeks after filing taxes online or 6 weeks after filing by hard copy.
If you do not use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, you can obtain a transcript, free of charge, by: (1) ordering a transcript online at www.irs.gov, Order a Tax Return; (2) order by calling 1-800-908-9946; or (3) by requesting a Transcript of Tax Return by using Form 4506T-EZ.
Please note: Additional documents may be required to complete the verification process, including W2 forms.
