Your Guide to Financial Aid

Start with the FAFSA

The Service Central office at CCU exists to partner with you in your college investment. This step-by-step guide will help you understand the financial aid application process beginning with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The majority of students at Colorado Christian University qualify to receive some level of financial assistance. In order to be considered for any type of financial aid all students must fill out the FAFSA.

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. Although the form states you can complete the FAFSA before you file your taxes, we recommend you use actual figures from your income tax return. Estimating your tax information will result in your file being selected for verification, which will lengthen the application process. For the most accurate and fastest results file the FAFSA online.
  2. The FAFSA Tip Sheet provides helpful tips for completing the FAFSA. Colorado Christian University's Title IV Code is 009401.
  3. The Department of Education will select some students who have completed the FAFSA for a process called verification. You are notified on your Student Aid Report (SAR) if you have been chosen and you will need to submit additional documentation to the Service Central office. Minimum additional documentation includes a copy of your federal income tax return (signed), tax schedules, copies of your W2 forms, and a verification worksheet completed and signed by you and, if applicable, your spouse. These documents can be faxed to the Service Central office if needed. (303.963.3231-fax)
  4. Complete the admission process as quickly as possible. Until your admission file is complete and you have been fully admitted to a degree-seeking program, the Service Central office cannot review your file for awarding.
  5. Once you have been awarded financial aid, you will receive an e-mail advising you to log into WebAdvisor at http://webadvisor.ccu.edu and view the financial aid that is available to you. You will need to accept or decline your awards online.
  6. If you are accepting Federal loan funds as a part of your financial award, you will be required to complete additional steps to obtain the funds. This will include an entrance counseling session and signing a promissory note for the loan.
  7. CCU correspondence to students is primarily through e-mail.  Students are responsible to keep their e-mail contact information up-to-date and to check their e-mail inbox regularly. Students’ current account information is always accessible in WebAdvisor.
  8. Do your research on outside scholarships! There are many scholarships available for students who wish to pursue them.
  9. Secure payment arrangements for all charges not covered by financial aid before the semester begins. Payment options include cash, check, credit card, and electronic check (PDF). See Payment Options for more details.
  10. Keep copies of all information you fill out and submit to CCU, including your FAFSA.
