MACI Curriculum

CCU’s Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction is a 34 semester-hour program consisting of 12 classes, one of which is the capstone project, called the practicum. Of the 12 courses, 11 are required and comprise 31 semester hours, which allows students three semester hours of electives.

The scope and sequence of courses are planned to provide students the knowledge and skills necessary for success in their professional fields. In the final two performance-based assessments, the practicum and the portfolio, students must demonstrate proficiency in instructional design and its delivery methodologies.

Certificates

There are three graduate-level certificates offered in conjunction with the MACI. The Corporate Education Certificate prepares students to teach in almost any business environment. The Online Course Developer Certificate trains students to effectively design, develop, and evaluate online classes in educational or corporate settings. And the Online Teaching and Learning Certificate gives students the tools they need to develop an online teaching strategy that enables them to significantly impact individual learners. Each certificate program consists of six three-credit courses for a total of 18 credits toward your master’s degree.

Instructional Technology Emphasis

The MACI program offers an emphasis track in Instructional Technology. Students interested in this emphasis must take the elective course EDU 681, Applications of Interactive Technology, and integrate educational technology in their practicum.
