RN to BSN Admission Requirements

Admission to the RN to BSN Program

The first step in the admission process is to submit your online application for admission to CCU’s College of Adult and Graduate Studies (CAGS). Submit proof of identity and all official college transcripts for CAGS admission.

The application process for admission to CCU's RN to BSN program is competitive. Once enrolled in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies, the Student Services Advisor assists the student in the admission and progression process. The applicant must meet specific requirements at each step of the admission process in order to progress and be admitted to the program.

Completed College of Adult and Graduate Studies applications must be received at least one month prior to the next start date. Class size is limited, so we encourage all applicants to begin the process as soon as possible. To be considered for admission, students must have:

  • A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher
  • An associate degree in nursing or diploma in nursing from an accredited institution
  • Proof of active unencumbered RN licensure (USA). Submit a copy to your CCU Student Service Advisor.
  • Verification of Work form (Proof of current employment as a nurse)
  • A completed background check through CastleBranch. Use student package code CG84. Fees apply and are the responsibility of the student. The background check must be completed no more than six months prior to the start of nursing courses. Be sure to review the list of disqualifying offenses.
  • A completed drug screening through CastleBranch. A Drug Screen Release form (PDF) is required. Use student package code CG84. Fees apply.
  • A current CPR card (American Heart Association’s Healthcare Provider with AED)
  • Documentation of OSHA and HIPPA training. Submit to your CCU Student Service Advisor.

Please note: All nursing prerequisites must be successfully completed prior to taking any nursing courses.


State Exclusions for Online Students

The College of Adult and Graduate Studies (CAGS) at Colorado Christian University offers courses to online students in all states with the exception of the following program-specific state exclusions:

  • CAGS does not offer Educator Licensing or Education Theory courses (Undergraduate, Graduate or Post Baccalaureate) to online students who reside in Delaware, Hawaii, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, or Washington, D.C.
  • CAGS does not offer RN-BSN Nursing courses to online students who reside in Alabama, Delaware, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, or Washington, D.C.
  • CAGS does not offer Master of Arts in Counseling courses to online students who reside in Delaware, Kentucky, North Carolina, Wisconsin or Washington, D.C.
  • CAGS does not offer Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) courses to online students who reside in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, or Washington, D.C.
