Peru 2005

Peru was AMAZING! Our team went to Pucullpa, Peru with Food for the Hungry International and worked on a church in the La Florida community. The people there are absolutely amazing! They welcomed us with open arms and patient and gracious hearts. We really felt like we belonged there. God taught all of us about his love through the people of La Florida. They loved us before they even knew us. We didn't finish the church in the five days we were in the community, but we decided that was OK. Now the people of the church and community can finish the church on their own and will able to take pride in the work that they have done. While we were there we also did some workshops in the mornings for the youth of the community and they were very successful as well. On the third day of the workshops we had the opportunity to speak to them about sexual purity and how important it is. We brought down some rings with us to give to them to remind them to stay pure until marriage. It was a very powerful week and I know that each one of us on the team misses them all dearly.~Mindy Ritscher
