Top Five Moments at WCS17

  1. Jay Sekulow, Donald Trump’s attorney, playing the drums.

On Saturday night, Jay Sekulow took some time to show off his lesser known musical skills, entertaining the crowd. A grandson of an immigrant, Sekulow is proud to be able to bring cases before the Supreme Court. After the drums, he took a moment to remind the enthusiastic crowd: “Have hope, because at the end of this, we win!”

  1. Sen. Cory Gardner’s rousing speech on opening night.

Gardner was one of the earlier speakers for Friday’s evening session and faced interruptions from two or three rowdy protesters that had to be escorted from the building. Instead of disrupting the evening, it invigorated the crowd and the room quickly drowned out the protesters with shouts of “USA! USA!”

  1. Interview of Colorado Gubernatorial Candidates

George Brauchler, Victor Mitchell, Doug Robinson, and Stephen Barlock were interviewed from the main stage by Joey Bunch from Colorado Politics. It was a great highlight of the different candidates and their positions for the attendees to review. George Braucher went on to win the Western Conservative Summit 2017 Colorado gubernatorial straw poll.

  1. The history lesson from Dr. James Dobson.

Dr. Dobson is founder and president of Family Talk and is the author of more than 30 books dedicated to the preservation of the family. On Saturday, he spoke in his mentor Winston Churchill, WWII, and rediscovering the fighting spirit. He shared a quote from Churchill: “The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” Dr. Dobson was also presented with William L. Armstrong Award at the Summit.

  1. Adam Densmore–Winner of Under 30 Speech Contest.

For the second year in a row, Red Alert Politics hosted an Under 30 Speech Contest with the Summit and the winner, Adam Densmore, set a new standard speaking on the main stage Saturday night. “America at her best is a nation that overcomes!” he exclaimed. Adam is currently studying accounting, finance, and economics at Grove City College and we look forward to seeing him accomplish great things in the future.

The entire 2017 Summit was inspirational and filled with a future of hope! The youth of today are making a difference
as they understand and share conservative principles.
