Petition to Defund Obamacare Explodes after Ted Cruz Speaks to WCS

Earlier in Today’s Western Conservative Summit, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) called on American conservatives to start signing a petition asking for the defunding of Obamacare. Cruz explained that when the time comes to vote for another Continuing Resolution, Cruz – along with Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) – have vowed to vote against any CR that includes funding for Obamacare. After Cruz’s announcement during the WCS luncheon, the online petition started climbing in popularity. By late afternoon, over 2,500 signatures had been added to the petition. The petition is designed to encourage other Senators to follow Cruz and Lee’s example; and refuse to fund Obamacare through any continuing resolution.

Immediately following Cruz’s remarks, the petition (found at dontfundit.com)  had 6,075 signatures. Within hours that number jumped to over 8,500.

Update: By the end of the evening, a mere 5 ½ hours after Cruz first mentioned the online petition (dontfundit.com) over 4,500 signatures had been added. The total number of signatures, at the end of Saturday’s WCS, was at 10,755.
