Climategate: read all about it

It is now clear that a gaggle of prominent “scientists” have betrayed both science and the public on a grand scale for the purposes of getting government grants, pushing a left-wing political agenda, and being invited to all the right parties.

It seems unlikely that these e-mails were “hacked”. More likely they were leaked by an insider. The leak was well timed to prevent an international agreement that would have required America and other nations to destroy their economies and ultimately to kill millions of people based on fraudulent misinformation.

In particular, the pending “Cap and Trade” legislation is now extremely unlikely to pass Congress. Thank God.

My two cents on health care

How about Nancy Pelosi ranting against health insurance companies, calling them “immoral” and “the villains” in opposing a government takeover of health care (while of course keeping up their saintly and righteous campaign contributions to her). Details here. This is the “big lie” style of demagoguery that Democrats are adopting more and more.

The big lie in this case is Pelosi’s and Obama’s misdirection of blame. The biggest villains in our massively screwed-up health insurance industry are the federal and state governments and their lobby-driven tax policies, mandates and restrictions regarding what kinds of coverage the insurance companies are permitted and not permitted to offer, plus the market distortions resulting from Medicare and Medicaid and the requirement that coverage not cross state lines. The politicians have assaulted health care economics on all fronts for decades, and now they want to finish it off. Continue reading

‘Duty to die’ hinted in Obamacare

Government-run health care just keeps getting better and better. “One troubling provision of the House bill compels seniors to submit to a <!–more–>counseling session every five years (and more often if they become sick or go into a nursing home) about alternatives for end-of-life care (House bill, p. 425-430),” writes Betsy McCaughey in the New York Post. The sessions cover highly sensitive matters such as whether to receive antibiotics and ‘the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration.’ Continue reading

It’s us, not CO2, that climate bill aims to control

Washington Post business columnist Steven Pearlstein has been following the “climate change” bill that was cobbled together in Congress in recent weeks. This is the bill, written by left-wing Democrats Henry Waxman and Ed Markey, that would attempt to lower American carbon emissions by 83 percent in 40 years. I.e., it would raise energy prices, drive our remaining manufacturers offshore, destroy our future military capability and drive a stake through the heart of the American economy. Continue reading
