Some Earth Day boos and cheers

We’re celebrating Earth Day this week, and maybe that’s what the White House hoped people would think it was doing when it earlier delayed construction of the job-creating, energy-boosting, science-endorsed, Keystone XL pipeline. It was more nearly a means of bringing in bribes. A real way to celebrate would be to cheer on fracking, an environmental as well as an economic blessing. Continue reading

The desperate need for liberal compassion

Rep. Paul Ryan recently said the wrong kind of welfare can breed dependency, and liberals are beating up on him but good. They are saying that he is once again showing how conservatives do not care about the poor when in fact liberals are the ones who continuously assault them. Salon’s left-wing media ideal would muzzle free speech

Liberty-shredding impulses reign in some news outlets, such as Salon that is forever taking great leaps leftward and recently did so in a book excerpt. It spoke of the wonderful news future you’d get if corporations as we have known them went away, socialism took over and no one had to put up any longer with the likes of Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, CNN or The New York Times. Obamacare does not justify a government shutdown

“First, do no harm.” That’s a phrase doctors learn as step one in ethical behavior, and members of Congress ought to have to repeat it when sworn into office. They don’t, and while they should grasp the concept nevertheless, many don’t do that, either. As a result, we the people are inflicted with overly ambitious laws like Obamacare, which is assured to do harm left, right and in between. Continue reading
