“The last bastion of freedom.” “The greatest nation in the history of mankind.”
Passionate, patriotic speakers at the 2014 Western Conservative Summit used these terms to describe “America at it’s best,” the theme of the 3-day weekend that called for unity, generational harmony, moral courage, and the preservation of America’s founding principles of faith, family, and freedom.
Thank you. Thank you, Ladies and Gentlemen.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I beg your indulgence for next couple of minutes. I’d like you to close your eyes, imagine what I am about to say.
North Korea has invaded South Korea. Indonesian paratroopers have landed on Australian soil. Taiwan has been overrun by China. The Russian-Soviet Empire has been re-created. Tyrants in Africa run around more mercilessly than even now. Terrorists terrorize with impunity. War, maybe nuclear, has engulfed the Middle East and Israel stands to be destroyed. In democracy terms, Latin America is back to square one. Cataclysmic natural disasters have no leadership response. Liberty is extinguished, with terror, tyranny and torture reigning.
Nice to be back in the Mile-High City. Beautiful! Flyin’ in from ALASKA, over snow-capped hills (think you call mountains)! Stepped off the plane reminded Todd “don’t inhale!”
So, the President was here last week, gettin’ his Rocky Mt. High on.
Saturday night marks the midpoint of the 2014 Western Conservative Summit, and attendees from all backgrounds and generations react to speakers throughout the weekend so far:

There will be no next visit in this life because my Mom, Norma, went to be with her Jesus on December 19. Continue reading
Thank God for him, this preacher, this man of words, action, patriotism and nonviolence, this Christian who energized a movement, whose dream awakened a nation. I speak of Martin Luther King Jr. and ask that Americans do him the honor, please, please, of recognizing his accomplishment instead of pretending, as some do, that we haven’t come that far. After a moving speech by Mia Love, encouraging insights from Governor Mike Huckabee, and a profound expose of the left’s moral bankruptcy by Bill Whittle, Colonel Allen West took the stage to bring the fourth annual Western Conservative Summit to a close. The former Florida U.S. Representative touched on the topics that had been echoed throughout the weekend by such speakers as KT McFarland, Jonah Goldberg, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz and others.
“So here we are, on the Lord’s Day, committed to the timeless principles of conservatism that have made us, America, the envy of the world,” West began. His remarks were Continue reading
PJ Media video commentator and director Bill Whittle closed Sunday morning’s session at the fourth annual Western Conservative Summit, urging attendees not to let progressives “get away with it anymore” by falsely claiming moral superiority. Continue reading
Mixing the funny and the philosophical, columnist Jonah Goldberg’s examination of the loaded phrases and political cliches pervading the current political discourse reveals an ideology, progressivism, “without clothing.” Goldberg described what he called the progressives’ use of Continue reading
