From Transgenderism to the Abolition of Man: Our Posthuman Future

February 13, 2017 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

transgender-signWhile much has recently been made of movements such as those for gay marriage and transgenderism and their impact on society, church and family, they are in fact only the warning signs of a much larger agenda, namely the redefinition of humanity itself. This talk will introduce listeners to new movements coming out of universities, think tanks and alternative spirituality groups which question our basic understanding of what it means to be human. In its place they are proposing a vision which would radically alter not only basic social norms, but also laws, technology and even biology itself. Some of the issues posthumanism raises include: “human rights” for animals and machines, biologically merging humans with other species, and recognized romantic relationships between humans and nonhuman entities. This is sure to be an informative and provocative evening!
