Commencement 2008
Things to Remember
On Commencement Day
- The Commencement ceremony starts at 10 a.m. and will last until approximately 12:15 p.m. Graduates should arrive promptly at 9:00 a.m. and should enter through the Ministry Building’s southeast entrance (far left entrance on the southeast end of the building). Doors will open for guest seating at 9:15 a.m.
- Allow plenty of time for parking prior to the ceremony and for exiting the parking lot afterwards.
- Though no tickets are issued for the ceremony, the auditorium allows for approximately six guests per graduate. Please invite a reasonable number of guests.
- Make your celebration plans or reservations no earlier than 1:00 p.m.
- Do not bring your gown on a hanger. Wear it or carry it over your arm.
- Students may wish to bring hair pins or safety pins for caps and clothing.
- Please do not “decorate” your cap or gown. Only formal regalia will be allowed.
- Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes for this special occasion.
- Leave your valuables with your guests or at home. There is no available space to store purses or other items during the ceremony. CCU is not responsible for any lost or damaged items.
- During the ceremony, guests may only take pictures from their seat in order to preserve the dignity of the ceremony.
- Following the ceremony, meeting locations will be available for graduates, guests, and CCU faculty and staff outside the main foyer south exit of the church. Look for signage indicating a gathering spot for your program and school of study. In the event of inclement weather, graduates will be dismissed in the auditorium at the end of the ceremony to find family members there.
After Commencement
- Diplomas will be ordered after grades have been received and students have been certified. Printing by Jostens will take six to eight weeks. When diplomas are received, they will be mailed to students who have completed all graduation requirements. This usually occurs around August 1.
- CCU will mail official transcripts upon receipt of a signed, written request from the student. To obtain the transcript request form, or for more information on ordering an official transcript, visit www.ccu.edu/registrar/transcript.asp.
