CCU Scholarships and Grants

Awards for Your Achievements and Financial Need

Colorado Christian University funds a variety of scholarships and grants for qualifying students in the College of Undergraduate Studies. These awards recognize students’ academic and leadership ability, special talents, community service, and financial need. Scholarship and grant awards are determined by the year in which a student first enrolled at CCU.

Applicants to CCU will automatically be considered for academic awards and scholarships. Prospective students should complete their Application for Admission and submit their FAFSA by the priority date of March 1. Awarding is done on a first-come first-served basis as funds are available.

Academic Scholarships

New Students Enrolling in 2012-2013

CCU awards academic scholarships to new freshmen and transfer students who meet specific academic requirements. The awards listed below are for new CCU students enrolling in 2012-13, and are guaranteed for up to four years as long as the student maintains satisfactory academic progress (SAP) and is continuously enrolled in CCU's College of Undergraduate Studies. Academic scholarships can be applied only to tuition charges for on-campus enrollment.

The following table shows typical GPAs and test scores associated with the academic scholarship levels.

First-Time Freshmen

For freshmen, including those with AP and/or dual credit, the academic scholarships are based on the student's GPA from the last high school attended and ACT or SAT II composite test score (Critical Reading, Math, and Writing sections). Note that a higher test score may offset a lower GPA.

$11,000 Trustees' Scholarship ($44,000 over four years)

Recipients typically have a 3.8 GPA and an ACT score of 28 or SAT II composite score of 1,860. To maintain eligibility, students should maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA at CCU and meet all student aid eligibility requirements.

$9,000 President's Scholarship ($36,000 over four years)

Recipients typically have a 3.6 GPA and an ACT score of 24 or SAT II composite score of 1,650. To maintain eligibility, students should maintain a cumulative 3.3 GPA at CCU and meet all student aid eligibility requirements.

$8,000 Deans' Scholarship ($32,000 over four years)

Recipients typically have a 3.4 GPA and an ACT score of 22 or SAT II composite score of 1,530. To maintain eligibility, students should maintain a cumulative 3.2 GPA at CCU and meet all student aid eligibility requirements.

$5,000 Honors Scholarship ($20,000 over four years)

Recipients typically have a 3.0 GPA and an ACT score of 20 or SAT II composite score of 1,410. To maintain eligibility, students should maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA at CCU and meet all student aid eligibility requirements.

Transfer Students

For transfer students with 15 or more post-high school college credits, the academic scholarships are based on the student's cumulative GPA from all colleges attended. For transfer students with less than 15 post high-school college credits, the scholarships are based on the student's GPA from the last high school attended and ACT or SAT II composite test score (Critical Reading, Math, and Writing sections). Note that a higher test score may offset a lower GPA.

$8,000 Transfer Scholarship 1 ($4,000 per semester)
Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.5. To maintain eligibility, students should maintain a cumulative 3.3 GPA at CCU and meet all student aid eligibility requirements.

$6,000 Transfer Scholarship 2 ($3,000 per semester)

Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.25. To maintain eligibility, students should maintain a cumulative 3.2 GPA at CCU and meet all student aid eligibility requirements.

$4,000 Transfer Scholarship 3 ($2,000 per semester)

Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. To maintain eligibility, students should maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA at CCU and meet all student aid eligibility requirements.

Other Grants and Scholarships

Colorado Christian University provides additional scholarship and grant opportunities to students enrolled in the College of Undergraduate Studies. As with academic scholarships, these awards do not need to be repaid.

Colorado Christian University Grant

The CCU Grant is given to students with financial need. Eligibility and amount vary annually based on need as determined by federal methodology. A student must apply for federal aid to be considered for this award. The CCU Grant is available for students enrolled in the College of Undergraduate Studies.

Athletics Scholarship

The Athletics Scholarship is available to student-athletes in CCU’s College of Undergraduate Studies who are recommended for scholarship consideration by the CCU Athletics Department. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress, unless otherwise noted by the Athletics Department. Scholarship amounts vary. Prospective student athletes should contact their specific coach for further information.

Music Performance Scholarship

The Music Performance Scholarship is available to students in CCU’s College of Undergraduate Studies who exhibit exceptional musical ability. Recipients must audition to qualify, and are required to participate in choir or band ensemble. To maintain scholarship eligibility, they must also maintain satisfactory academic progress unless otherwise noted by the School of Music. Partner Initiative Scholarships

Colorado Christian University has partnered with dozens of Christian organizations, high schools, and church and parachurch ministries to provide financial opportunities for prospective students associated with these organizations to pursue their education at CCU. First Generation Minority Student Scholarship

The First Generation Minority Student Scholarship is available for students enrolled in the College of Undergraduate Studies. This scholarship provides an opportunity for minority students whose parents did not attend college to complete a Christian college degree. CCU will support the students through a series of academic, personal, mentoring, and leadership development activities. The selection process is highly competitive and students must demonstrate financial need (as determined by the information reported on the FAFSA) to be eligible.
