The School of Humanities and Sciences strives to provide you with extracurricular activities that will enrich your education and give you opportunities to apply what you're learning in the classroom.
CCU Student Publications provide experience and training that complement your coursework in communication and other fields, prepare you for careers in numerous professions, and provide you with leadership opportunities.
CCU's Debate Team was organized to develop your critical thinking and presentational skills. The team's goal is to help you build confidence in speaking, gain valuable skills to succeed in your chosen career, become an influential leader in our society, and most importantly, to assist you in impacting the marketplace for Christ. As a member, you can receive academic credit for participation on the Debate Team.
Digital Media Lab
The Digital Media Lab offers members the opportunity to learn media production from Emmy Award winner and producer Jess Stainbrook. As a member, you can earn academic credit for your participation in the Digital Media Lab.
Rocky Mountain Communication Association
The Rocky Mountain Communication Association is a regional professional association serving communication educators and professionals in the Rocky Mountain region, including Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. Membership is open to all faculty, students, and professionals working in communication-related fields or disciplines. CCU communication faculty and students participate in RMCA conferences by presenting papers and research.
Bi-Annual Poetry Readings
Stand and let your voice be heard! Poetry readings are sponsored by the Literary Club, but membership is not required to attend or participate.
Sigma Tau Delta is an International English Honors Society. The CCU chapter is called the Alpha Omicron Zeta chapter of the Sigma Tau Delta. In order to be invited to join Sigma Tau Delta at CCU, you must have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a required 3.5 GPA for English coursework.
If you're interested in the sciences and pre-health fields, you can work actively with Project Cure. Project Cure strives to help meet the endless need for medical supplies and services in developing countries and is currently the world's largest distributor of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing nations, working with more than 120 countries worldwide. Their mission is to identify, solicit, collect, sort and deliver medical supplies and services according to the imperative needs of the world.
Rocky Mountain Psychological Association
One of the most exciting opportunities for psychology majors at Colorado Christian University is the opportunity to complete an academic research project and present the results at the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association conference. This nationally known conference is the preeminent conference for student researchers to present their work in the eight-state Rocky Mountain region. Every year CCU's psychology department takes many students to the conference to present their work and share ideas with students and professors from other universities.
Field Trips
You can visit the largest mosque in Colorado, the Colorado Foothills World Affairs Council, the Abrahamic Initiative at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, and attend book signings at the Tattered Cover bookstore.
Prayer for the Persecuted Church
CCU's Social Science department sponsors a prayer group that meets twice weekly to pray for missions and the persecuted church.
Public Forums
You can attend and be involved in a variety of public forums and debates. Some previous examples include Constitution Day, Republican and Democratic candidate debates, and a Physical Science forum on global warming.
