FirstSearch WorldCat - CCU students should log in with AUTHORIZATION & PASSWORD (see Library Department Web), select "All Databases," and select "WorldCat." WorldCat lists 40 million books cataloged by the world's libraries. It can be used to locate materials beyond Colorado and Wyoming. Once a book record is chosen, select "Libraries worldwide that own item." Colorado libraries appear first.
Borrowing books from libraries through the CCU Courier, may take 1 to 2 weeks to Lakewood. For requests from Centers and elsewhere, add additional time. Fill out an Interlibrary Loan form available at the CCU Circulation Desk and submit to the Interlibrary Loan Librarian, Tracey Lane. You may also use the online form provided under Interlibrary Borrowing or within WorldCat itself called ("Borrow this from another library"). You are notified when the item arrives.
Students can identify resources available locally, statewide, and nationally. For items not in its collection, CCU is part of the Interlibrary Loan network. One may choose to personally visit another library or request an Interlibrary Loan via the Interlibrary Loan Librarian, Tracey Lane (tlane@ccu.edu , 303-963-3257, toll-free 1-877-777-6132, fax 303-963-3251 questions/info). Leave sufficient lead time for borrowing. See details at Interlibrary Borrowing.
For Lakewood students, join by getting a public library card at Belmar Public Library, a Jefferson County Public Library (Allison St. two bocks from CCU), or apply at your closest public library or http://info.jefferson.lib.co.us/app_online.html. Membership entitles the individual to select items online to borrow for pickup at their local branch. Turnaround is 3 days.
For CCU students/faculty elsewhere in Colorado, join PROSPECTOR via one of the PROSPECTOR libraries listed above. Most libraries allow you to register with them by showing your Colorado picture ID. Registration usually entitles you to borrowing privileges at that library, as well as PROSPECTOR membership.
Dissertation Express is the index to the current two years of citations and abstracts in the Dissertation Abstracts Database. Say no to academic affiliation and press continue, then select a method of payment (even if you do not plan to purchase anything), and conduct a search. Once a dissertation is identified, an individual may request that the CCU Library submit an Interlibrary Loan borrowing request to a nearby library. Users also have the option to purchase individually through UMI.
