PROSPECTOR - Combined catalog of major libraries of Colorado and Wyoming. One can search over 30 member libraries with a single query. Libraries are: ArapahoeP, Auraria, AuroraP, BoulderP, BroomfieldP, CRL, Colorado Christian, ColoradoCol, Colorado School of Mines, CoStateU, DenverP, FortCollinsP, FortLewisCol, JeffcoP, LouisvilleP, MesaStateC, Marmot Libs, RegisU, UnivCoBoulder, HSC, and Law, UnivCoCoSpr, UnivofDenver and UnivofDLaw, UNorthernC, UWyo, CStatePub and Marmot members. Turnaround is about 3-4 days. For requests from Centers and elsewhere, add additional time. Map Location of Libraries
Students are automatically part of PROSPECTOR through the CCU Online Catalog. For items not in the CCU collection, there is a search box just underneath the Colorado Christian Librarian box on the left. At the down arrow, change to Prospector Catalog and repeat the search. Once a desired item is located, click on Request It. and fill out any other information needed. The user is notified once the desired item has arrived. If the CCU user is located at a distance, the item can be mailed to them. It is up to the CCU user to return the item back to CCU Library. There may be instances where it is more expedient for the user to become a member of the closest Prospector public library and to request through that institution so that the item will be delivered to the closest member public library to the requestor.
Students can identify resources available nationally beyond Prospector. For items not in its collection or Prospector, CCU is part of the Interlibrary Loan network. Use the CCU Online Catalog and Prospector first before trying an Interlibrary Loan.
FirstSearch WorldCat - CCU students should use their CCU login to access. WorldCat lists 40 million books cataloged by the world's libraries. It can be used to locate materials beyond Colorado and Wyoming. Once a book record is chosen, select "Libraries worldwide that own item." Colorado libraries appear first. If the material is available in a Colorado Library, it is quickest for users to use Prospector and not go through Interlibrary Loan. Otherwise, fill out an Interlibrary Loan form available at the CCU Circulation Desk and submit to the Interlibrary Loan Librarian, Tracey Lane,(tlane@ccu.edu, 303-963-3257, toll-free 1-877-777-6132, fax 303-963-3251 questions/info). You may use the online form provided under Interlibrary Borrowing or within WorldCat itself called ("Borrow this from another library"). Borrowing books from libraries through the CCU Courier, may take 1 week to Lakewood. For requests from Centers and elsewhere, add additional time. You are notified when the item arrives.
Dissertation Express is the index to the current two years of citations and abstracts in the Dissertation Abstracts Database. Conduct a search. Once a dissertation is identified, one may request that the CCU Library submit an Interlibrary Loan borrowing request to a nearby library. Users also have the option to purchase individually through UMI.
