Dear New and Returning CCU Students and Colleagues:

Clifton L. Fowler Library, located in the Beckman Center on the Lakewood campus, extends a heartfelt welcome to all.  Normal Library hours are: 7:30am - 12am Monday - Wednesday, 7:30am - 10pm Thursday; 8am - 6pm Friday; 10am - 6pm Saturday; and 2pm - 12am Sunday. 

The Library circulates books and curriculum materials (3 weeks, renewable by phone or my account); journals and videos/DVDs/CDs (1 week, renewable); and reserves (generally 2 hours).  Books are on the lower level (stairs on your left in the hallway); videos/DVDs/CDs are in the Video Alcove and CD cabinet; journals are at the far rear of the main floor; and non-circulating Reference is at the entrance.  A student copier and a faculty copier are near the exit on the east side of the Reference Room.

The Library Catalog http://library.ccu.edu/  offers title, author, subject, and other access to the collection.  The collection is enhanced by the ability to also borrow from other libraries via Interlibrary Borrowing

More than 20,000 full-text journal articles are available in our Academic Search/Business Source, ProQuest, Lexis-Nexis, and ATLA/SReligion online databases.  Choose the Library Web, then Journal Indexes and Full-Text Articles, or go straight to  /library/articles.asp

The Library has computers throughout and wireless access.  It also has small and large group study rooms and an education curriculum lab.  These rooms can be reserved at the Circulation Desk.  As a place of study, research, and cooperative learning, the Library aims to maintain a quiet atmosphere that is service-oriented and comfortable.  Food and covered drinks are permitted anywhere except at the computer terminals. 

The Library Web  at www.ccu.edu/library/ offers indexing databases (ERIC, PsycINFO, others), reference databases (Encyclopedia Britannica, CQ ResearcherGale Reference E-books, etc.), Web resources, writing and citation guides, the Library, Information & Research Tutorial, and Subject Guides to Research. This information can be accessed via any computer (including wireless) at any time from your residence hall, home, or other location.  Passwords and authorizations for the Library-purchased databases are found  in the WOW welcome packet, at the Library Circulation Desk, and from the Library Web page itself.  You can also call the quick information number above.

Faculty librarians teach library and information literacy skills in the FYI program and can be contacted for specialized class presentations.  Faculty should contact Gayle Gunderson to schedule a class, place materials on reserve, or to request specific acquisitions.
