Stay In Touch!

Dear Parents,

Well, here we go--our first Parent Relations newsletter of 2013! It was a delight to meet so many of you at WOW! I hope that your students are thriving and getting acclimated to the CCU Community. And how are you adjusting to one less person at home? We pray this finds you well! We value your feedback - your ideas, suggestions, and participation, and we look forward to connecting with you soon!

Parent Care

"By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established” - Proverbs 24:3

In the Old Testament, wisdom is best understood as “skillfull living.” In other words, wisdom looks different based on your skill set and circumstances, but for everyone, wisdom is something to be sought after. Proverbs tells us that wisdom is required to build and establish a house. As parents, it takes wisdom to know when to loosen the reigns, when to tighten them, and what battles are worth fighting. While your children are in a time of transition away from home, there may be many circumstances when you have to decide whether to hold firm or loosen the reigns. During these times, it’s a helpful reminder that parenting requires not only wisdom, but grace. As you parent with wisdom and attempt to instill that wisdom in our children, may you also remember to extend grace.

Remember that as your students are in the first few weeks of classes they could be struggling with a new environment, roommates, classes, being homesick or other changes. All of these struggles are natural, and you can be a great encouragement to them during this time by reminding them that this is still a time of adjustment and that the way they are feeling is normal.
