At CCU, we believe that life on campus is a valuable part of your total college experience. Our on-campus apartments house over 600 students annually and provide a living and learning community experience that helps students work together to integrate their studies with their faith in Christ. Residence Life is designed to enhance and complement the academic goals of the University by promoting the growth and development of each student.
The Department of Residence Life seeks, through quality residential programs, facilities, and services, to create a vibrant, healthy, God-centered student community exemplified by service, learning, spiritual growth, and leadership development.
To accomplish our mission, we seek to build community, provide learning outcome based programming in the residence halls for both educational and spiritual growth, deliver an outstanding student satisfaction environment, provide excellent facilities and services, develop campus leaders, and care well for students experiencing emotional, physical, social, and disciplinary difficulties.
The Department of Residence Life is committed to upholding and enacting these values on a daily basis as they guide our work for and on behalf of students.
Personal Relationships – We develop authentic relationships with our students and staff, treating each one as an individual with unique needs and concerns, being available and seeking deep interactions and good communication, and supporting each one in their journey in following Christ. (I Thessalonians 2:8)
Excellence – Realizing our work is worship, we do everything to the glory of God, exhibiting professionalism, integrity, and quality. (Colossians 3:23)
Playfulness – In an inviting and lively environment, we enthusiastically encourage students to have fun, create memories, and live full lives. (John 10:10)
Stewardship – Recognizing God’s generous provision, we effectively and efficiently cultivate and channel our collective resources to serve students while modeling good stewardship of our time, talents, and treasure. (I Corinthians 4:1-2)
Intentionality – With purpose and passion we live our collective heart for students and actively pursue our departmental mission and goals in everything we do. (Ephesians 5:15)
The Residence Life staff plays an important part in CCU's efforts to offer supportive, yet challenging, living environments. Each residence hall has an assigned Resident Director (RD) and Resident Assistants (RAs) who serve the students living there.
Resident Directors (RDs) are professionals who possess a master's degree and are responsible for the overall administration of their residence halls. An RD’s responsibilities include providing structure, direction, and support to their residential communities. They are valuable resources to their residents for college-life information, mentoring and discipleship, crisis intervention, and upholding University living standards. RDs are a student's primary resources if they are struggling within the residential community and are available to support and talk with residents (and parents) at any time. Check out our staff bio's on the left.
Resident Assistants (RAs) are upperclassmen student leaders who are selected to lead and serve their peers in a specific residence hall. The RA's primary responsibilities are to be available to the students living in their community, role model behavior, build and encourage community, act as a student advocate, help with facilitating problems, and to assist their Resident Director in maintaining an atmosphere that will enhance personal growth and academic success.
Student Chaplains are upperclassmen student leaders who are selected to lead and serve their peers in a specific residence hall, and primarily serve to assist CCU students in jumpstarting the spiritual formation process that is highly encouraged in all facets of CCU life. In addition, they plan and implement living community and campus-wide spiritual growth programming and mentor, disciple, and advise students in their personal and spiritual growth.
