I have been teaching elementary general music in Jefferson County Public Schools for 32 years and have had numerous student teachers from CCU, UNC, CU, and Metro.  I have been a Jeffco trained Mentor Teacher for the last 10 years working with first year music educators.  In addition, I teach Gifted and Talented students at Jeffco’s High Potential Week at Windy Peak Outdoor Lab School in the summers.  Within my church, I have been a Worship Leader, Children’s Choir Director, and Adult Choir Director.  All these experiences help me to see the importance of general music education in the life of a child, teen, and adult.

It is a joy and privilege to teach for CCU because I can openly discuss my faith with my students and how that integrates and plays out in a General Music classroom within a public school system.  An authentic Christian faith should be the main filter through which a music teacher makes decisions regarding interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.  Christ calls us to excellence and we should heed His call.
