Biography and Professional Achievements

Daniel DeLau is a native of Indiana. After obtaining his undergraduate degree at Indiana University in 1983, he moved to Colorado where he began his professional career in accounting at one of the “Big 8” accounting firms. Over the next 35 years, DeLau gained significant experience in international and domestic accounting and tax transactions within a U.S. corporate environment working for international accounting firms, and as tax director of multiple public and private companies, each with extensive and complex operations throughout the United States and internationally.

Professional achievements include being promoted to partner at Ernst & Young, co-founding a Denver-based tax consulting and compliance firm, and working as the U.S. tax director for a Fortune 100 company based in Lausanne, Switzerland. He continues to consult on tax and accounting issues with various clients.

Having joined the School of Business at CCU in 2017, he is now focused on transferring his accounting and tax knowledge to another generation of business and accounting students. He has a passion for the profession and for guiding students on the myriad of opportunities that a career in accounting will provide. DeLau lives in Lakewood, Colorado, with his wife, Debbie, and has one daughter who currently resides in Wyoming.
