Faith and Learning:
Music and the Christian Spirit: These devotionals engage issues, concerns and topics that formally trained musicians who are serious in their faith walk regularly wrestle with. Topics include how to deal with praise in a way that isn’t prideful, coping with performance anxiety, exploring the student-teacher dynamic, and interpretation to name only a few.
Reading these devotionals will help create a positive mindset for any musical endeavor that follows. In the private lesson setting, they serve to focus the student, buffering them from what came before the lesson and possibly for what follows it. They can be used by music teachers in the classroom as a springboard for integrating the disciplines of music with the foundations of Christian faith; by a music director sharing with her choir or worship leader sharing with his musicians; by the growing musician and believer as a devotional aid and so on.
