Trustee Spotlight
Wil Armstrong is an entrepreneur and small-business man. His business background includes technology, mortgage banking, and commercial banking.
Armstrong is presently chairman and CEO of Three Tree Capital, LLC. His passion is building teams, leveraging great start-up ideas, and working toward their success through active investment and leadership.
He previously served as president and CEO of Blueberry Systems. The company provided software as a service (SaaS) and technology solutions to the financial services industry. The company was recognized as a Top 50 Service Provider by Mortgage Technology Magazine.
In 2007, Armstrong was elected to the board of directors of Colorado Community Bank, a $500 million (assets) commercial bank. He was named vice chairman of the bank's holding company, Washington Investment Company, and as first vice chairman of the bank in 2010.
Armstrong was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Colorado Mortgage Lenders Association in August 2006 for his innovation and respected business ventures. He was also recognized by the Denver Business Journal in 2005 as one of the 40 Under 40 outstanding local professionals for his business success and community contributions.
As an active community member, Armstrong has served in many volunteer, nonprofit, and political capacities. Most recently, Armstrong was elected chairman of the Armstrong Family Foundation. The foundation focuses its work and grants on furthering evangelism, mitigating poverty, and advocating constitutional principles. In addition, he is currently co-chairman of the business council for the Centennial Institute and a member of the board of trustees at Valor Christian High School.
In community volunteer roles, Armstrong's interest in service has extended to: chairman of the board of directors for the Leadership Program of the Rockies (LPR), board of trustees of ACE Scholarships, executive board of the Denver Area Council of the Boy Scouts, board of advisors of Leader's Challenge, chairman of the citizen advisory board of the Claremont Institute-Colorado, advisory board of Alternatives Pregnancy Center, and national board of directors of Enterprise Development International.
Armstrong received a BBA in Finance from James Madison University in 1989. He was a CFA (chartered financial analyst) Scholar at the university his senior year.
Armstrong and his wife, Kristy, have three children (Elisabeth, Kathryn, and Jack) and live in Greenwood Village, Colorado. The family attends Wellspring Church.
