How to choose the right BSN pathway for you.

The School of Nursing and Health Professions at CCU offers two pathways for students to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The Traditional Student BSN Path is designed for individuals entering CCU directly from high school. The Adult Student BSN Path is designed for individuals with some post-high school work experience before entering CCU.

Are there age requirements?In CCU's College of Undergraduate Studies, students generally secure direct admission to the BSN program upon completion of high school, or after completing their freshman or sophomore year at another college. Students are typically between 17 and 23 years old.In CCU's College of Adult and Graduate Studies, adult undergraduate students typically have post-high school work experience before entering CCU as Pre-Nursing students. Students are typically at least 21 years old.
Are there specific faith requirements?All students are required to submit essays as part of the application process that demonstrate mature Christian character, and to sign CCU's Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Covenant agreement.All classes in are taught from a Christ-centered worldview. However, students are not required to sign a statement of faith or adhere to a certain religious affiliation.
How can I qualify for admission?Admission to the BSN program is competitive and is reserved for incoming freshmen in the College of Undergraduate Studies who qualify for the Dean's Scholarship or above. A limited number of students will be accepted to the Nursing program and will qualify for direct progression to the Nursing major courses when all prerequisite  requirements are met.Adult students enter CCU as Pre-Nursing students in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies and must complete BSN prerequisites before applying for admission to the BSN program. A limited number of adult Pre-Nursing students who meet BSN admission requirements will be admitted.
Do I need to have a specific GPA or test score?Students seeking direct admission to the BSN program must be eligible for a Dean's Scholarship or above. Students must complete all prerequisite coursework, maintain a minimum overall collegiate GPA of 3.0, and maintain a minimum 3.0 average in biological sciences by the end of their sophomore year.Adult students must have a high school diploma or GED. Students must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA in BSN prerequisite coursework and must have a minimum 3.0 in all biological science courses.
When and where do I complete my prerequisites?BSN prerequisites are completed on campus as a residential student in the College of Undergraduate Studies during freshman and sophomore years.BSN prerequisites are typically completed online through the College of Adult and Graduate Studies or transferred from another accredited college or university.
When and where do I complete the BSN major core coursework?Students complete BSN major core classes during the four semesters of their junior and senior years, taking multiple classes at a time. Classes are held on site at CCU's main campus in Lakewood, Colorado.Students complete BSN major core classes over six semesters (fall, spring, and summer) during their junior and senior years, taking nearly all classes one at a time. What are the start dates for the BSN program?Traditional students begin major core BSN classes in August.Adult students begin major core BSN classes in March.
Can I work during the BSN Program?During the fall and spring semesters of their junior and senior years, students are required to take classes during the day and to participate in labs and simulations at varying days and times. This significantly limits availability for other employment, except over summer break when classes are not in session.During the year-round, 24-month duration of the BSN major core coursework, students are required to take classes during the day and to participate in labs and simulations at varying days and times. This significantly limits availability for full-time employment.
Can I live on campus?Traditional students are required to live on campus during their freshman and sophomore years, and may choose to live on campus all four years.Campus housing is not available for adult students.
What are the Student Life requirements?During their freshman and sophomore years, traditional students must meet requirements for chapel attendance and ministry hours. These requirements are waived during the junior and senior years.There are no Student Life requirements for adult students.
