5 Career Options with an Apologetics Degree

As Christians, we are called to live out faith in our daily lives showing His love to others. We’re also called to be ready to defend our faith should a situation ever arise.

The Apostle Peter said, “Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.” (1 Peter 3:15) In his letter to the people of Philippi, the Apostle Paul said, “The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.” (Philippians 1:16)

Do you feel called to spread the word or defend your faith, but you don’t know how to get started? Colorado Christian University offers a bachelor’s degree in Apologetics through The Lee Strobel Center for Evangelism and Applied Apologetics with the goal of equipping Christians, ministry leaders, and churches to effectively share their faith with the world.

At CCU, Apologetics courses are taught by faculty members committed to supporting you on your educational journey. Here are a few potential career paths you can pursue with a degree in Apologetics.

Five Career Options with an Apologetics Degree

No. 1 - Missionary

Matthew 28:19-20: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Becoming a missionary can be a rewarding and exciting opportunity. What better way to share your faith than to see other countries and meet new people, experiencing new cultures, while sharing the love of Jesus? By earning a degree in Apologetics, you will learn why you believe what you do and how to share it with others.

No. 2 – Author

Revelation 1:19: Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this.

If you prefer to express yourself through writing, and desire to share your faith, becoming an author is a great career option. CCU offers bachelor’s degrees in Creative Writing and Apologetics to prepare the next generation of Christian authors writing books, articles, or blogs.

No. 3 – Church leader

2 Timothy 2:15: Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

There are many different kinds of leaders in the church. Yes, there are pastors, but there are also youth pastors, Bible study leaders, Stephen Ministers, community organizers, and more. Developing your ability to understand and express essential doctrines of the Christian faith are immensely important to all of these positions.

No. 4 – Teacher

Titus 2:7-8: Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.

According to the National Center for Education statistics, there are more than 30,000 Christian schools in the United States ranging from preschool all the way through secondary schools and beyond educating nearly 5 million students. CCU offers degree programs in Education and Apologetics, which would be beneficial in teaching the next generation of believers how to impact the world with grace and truth.

No. 5 – Work in Nonprofit

Matthew 23:11: The greatest among you shall be your servant.

Nonprofit organizations such as charities, public clinics, volunteer organizations, research institutes, museums, and more are always looking to influence their communities in a positive way. A degree in Apologetics would help you make a grass-roots impact in your community.
